    I usually joke with people I know or like. Sorry I will find humor in everything you say from now on.

      In fact if Florida and only Colorado flipped, Romney would have won.
      In fact if Florida and only Nevada flipped, Romney would have won.

      You won, and you get to gloat. That's your right, and I'm good with it. But if, as this article states, you think Obama "trounced" Romney you are delusional. 147,000 votes was the only thing keeping this election from going the other way.
      I agree that it was not a "trouncing". While many of you saw the writing on the wall, many conservative "pundits" were predicting a Romney win, many by a wide margin. That just went in the face of almost all of the polls out there. Instead they called Nate Silver a hack- you know, the guy who called ALL 50 states correctly last night.

        Romney won 206 EV. Florida (29), Ohio (18), and even Virginia (13) would still have left him at 266. From there we needed either Iowa (6), New Hampshire (4), Colorado (9), Iowa (6), or Wisconsin (10) to go our way to win.

        We didn't get trounced but it wasn't very close either.
        Weird. I am showing he has 235 EV.

        Edit: Ahh ... there are still some undecided maybe? Probably the site I am looking at has jumped the gun on those.

          Gloating is for Pu$$!es. Act like you've been there before. Are you happy when VCU fans come over here and gloat? How about a conversation on how your president is going to somehow make this four years different than the last? That's what I want to hear. Of course that would require some real thought.

            I don't LIKE it, but it's the victor's spoils -- he gets to act however he wants. I'll choose to lose with class and not care.

              I'll go back to lurking soon enough. It's hard to have a decent discussion with the circle jerking angry mob around here.

                Seriously I could live with something like this:

                "I'm happy my guy won, but it was a hard fought race, and while we disagree politically, this is how I see the next four years......."

                Instead I get Will Ferrell from Wedding Crashers: "What a bunch of losers. Idiots. Good, good, more for me"

                Just real silly and immature behavior for people that talk politics on this board every four years.

                  I don't give a **** if you are democrat or republican, but I really question the intelligence of someone who would "rehire" a person who has done such a poor job balancing the budget of our country. Now if you are part of the 50% that look to your government for handouts, I understand your interest in Obama. But if you are like those of us that believe it was the hard-working, honest, and courageous citizens of this country that made it great, then you shed a tear watching it devolve into a welfare state where free citizens become slaves to their government.

                  As far as emcfizzle is concerned, he has already alluded to the fact he isn't a socialist. Perhaps his interest in Obama is not fiscal but social. Perhaps emcfizzle is more interested in gay marriage than balancing any budgets if you know what I mean...

                    Not enough to change any results. The only state I could find where adding ALL of Johnson's votes to Romney would flip the state is Florida, and only by a very slim amount. I would guess that at least half of Johnson's votes were from registered, or at least self-proclaimed Libertarians. At least in Kansas, the LP saw a sizable gain in registered voters this past year. I would expect it saw gains in most states.

                      If social issues really mattered to the electorate I offer the following:
                      1. Why aren't Catholics (pro life) voting straight Republican;
                      2. Why are blacks (mainly pro life and anti gay) voting more Republican;
                      3. Why aren't Latinos (many Catholic and pro life) voting more Republican.

                      And I will throw this one in just cause it sorta fits:

                      4. Why do Jewish people lean Democrat when many are small business owners and Republicans of late have shown far more protection of the relationship with Israel?

                      Someone explain this to me please. This question has nothing to do with my own view on social issues, which I am personally conservative on.

                        Clod! Welcome to the conversation. Glad to see that you haven't changed your homophobic ways. It's really sad that you are a face to our proud University on this and other message boards.

                        As to the budget, it's hard to balance a budget when you you are trying to wind down and pay for two wars that your incompetent predecessor left behind. But PLEASE keep trotting out that 47%/50% line as much as possible, as it will only ensure that your backwards facing party never makes any progress in a national election anytime soon.
