I thought this article did a good job of summing up why most of you were surprised by last nights results:

I'll stop poking the bear now.

Why do you and @rjl: think any of us were surprised? Have you seen the predictions? They were either favoring Obama or marginally favoring Romney. Not a single person is surprised or "bewildered" as @rjl: put it.

It sure sounds good though, doesn't it @Kung Wu:, to try and make every Republican sound like a crazy whack job, 60 IQ member of the klan?

Just like I am a socialist, amirite?

Obviously not everyone falls into that bucket (on either side), but my point is that people who ONLY get their news from Rush, Fox, or Drudge are not getting a very accurate view of the world.

Exactly. Surprised, not necessarily. Disappointed and concerned about the future of our country? Absolutely.

Ashamed to be part of the same fan base as ass clowns like emctwizzle and rjl? Damn straight. Go root for the Cal Bears or the Boulder Buffaloes.

Guess I was just basing that off of the prediction thread, which looking back at it again you are correct that there were quite a few predicting defeat. The very loud minority (shoxplode et al) just threw me for a loop.

If you are quoting The Atlantic isn't that the same thing on the left side of the equation?

...and who is Shoxplode? If you are referring to me, I didn't predict anything.

                      Dude.

You do realize that Obama won Florida by only 47,000 votes? That's a 49.9% to 49.3% victory.

Obama won because he won 2 battle ground states that Romney didn't: Florida and Ohio

In fact if Florida and only Colorado flipped, Romney would have won.
In fact if Florida and only Nevada flipped, Romney would have won.

You won, and you get to gloat. That's your right, and I'm good with it. But if, as this article states, you think Obama "trounced" Romney you are delusional. 147,000 votes was the only thing keeping this election from going the other way.

Nah man, we lost, they won. They get to have their soapboxes and pedestals -- that's the way it goes. Lose with class and move on. I love all our Shocker brothers even if we don't agree politically. Kumbaya.

How many votes did Johnson steal from Romney? Just curious.

I used to love it when Ralph Nader would run because I knew a few of the crazoids on the left would vote for him.

Hate to be "that guy," but he needed a lot more than 2 battleground states.

Romney won 206 EV. Florida (29), Ohio (18), and even Virginia (13) would still have left him at 266. From there we needed either Iowa (6), New Hampshire (4), Colorado (9), Iowa (6), or Wisconsin (10) to go our way to win.

We didn't get trounced but it wasn't very close either.

That was in response to you saying I should go cheer for another team, as if Democrats aren't allowed to be WSU fans. I was equating that asinine position to basing decisions off of race or religion. It was a joke, even if it did go over your head.
