    Does this surprise anyone?

Let's not make assumptions here based on ignorant metrics. How's their productivity compared to before. I've read reports that remote workers often work MUCH harder than what they did at the office.

If a department's productivity is found to be down, issue a recall or fire their asses.

Also, some time in the office is important. Reclusivity stifles innovation/creativity.

Maybe something like: spend the first full week of every month in a traditional office setting. Then it's Monday's only for the rest of the month? Compromise.

Government workers productive? That would be a first.

Indeed. The bar is set very low for those folk. Gubament work is nice if you can get it.

That's my point. Several studies on remote work have shown that people actually worked harder/were more productive at home. In fact, there were discussions of remote work affecting work-life balance (to the negative).

I think i saw somewhere in all this info that 98% of federal professional employees work from home.

I know a guy whose wife was required to spend one year in office (VA book work) and then she could do the job from anywhere in the world.

Yes, efficiency is the driver, as that is in the name DOGE. The issue is the system is largely inefficient and with 99% of your professional staff working from home, billions of dollars are bound to be inefficient.

The little town I work in had a disaster declared 3 years ago. The FEMA checks still haven’t come and our sewer system is still broken with sewage dumping on the ground in one section. The position at DEC that we are supposed to work with to engineer a fix has literally changed over every 90 days in those three years, causing the process to start over again each time.

How closely were those people in the study monitored?

I don't know. There were just several articles I read indicating folks working harder at home than they had been at the office. It was kind of counterintuitive.

Here's a study I pulled up in 5 seconds. Seems to indicate a positive correlation.

Correlation does not immediately indicate causation of course.
