    Pot, meet kettle.

Given your repetitive elitist rhetoric on display since your arrival, I take great joy in your failed attempt to deliver another of your useless lectures.

The really humorous thing about eggheads such as yourself is your narcissism has you convinced your delivery is sheer brilliance yet almost everyone simply finds you annoying. I'm so happy we're not on the same continent I could split.

Yeah, my bad. I made an heinous grammatical error. Sorry to have subjugated you to that boner.

I just hope you don't get so angry that you petulantly close your account on this forum.

I will now perform my penance.

I swear, reading the Poitics board on Shockernet is like reading a schizophrenic John Birch Society newsletter.

On behalf of all poor people out there (including myself), I'd like to apologize for keeping you all from reaching your full middle-management, ubermensch potential.

Rep. Paul Ryan spreads some false and misleading information in a series of “Setting The Record Straight” web posts, in which he criticizes the president’s proposed budget and promotes ...

          ‘Ever-Higher Taxes’ for Whom?

Ryan’s claim that Obama’s plan “burdens families with ever-higher taxes” begs the question: for whom? Not most families. It depends how much the family earns.

Under current law, the Bush tax cuts implemented in 2001 and 2003 will expire at the end of 2012. The sunset was part of a deal struck between the Republicans and the White House to extend the Bush tax cuts for all taxpayers for two more years rather than let them expire at the end of 2010. Obama’s budget proposal would extend the tax cuts for individuals earning less than $200,000 and couples earning less than $250,000. The IRS says that 138 million of the 142.4 million tax returns in 2008 had a gross adjusted income of under $200,000, so the vast majority of taxpayers would not see their income taxes go up.

Similarly, Ryan also claims Obama’s “budget imposes $1.5 trillion in tax increases on job creators and American families,” a claim we found to [sic] misleading when he first made it in February. That figure is a 10-year estimate and nearly half of it would come from making no change in current law — that is, current law would allow the Bush tax cuts to expire for upper-income earners, as we just described.
          Holes in ‘Doughnut Hole’ Explanation

Ryan’s site also includes a Q&A page on Medicare that dodges one of its own questions. It asks, “Does this budget reinstate the so-called Medicare ‘donut hole’?” But Ryan skips the correct answer, which is “Yes,” and instead misleadingly claims that the health care law’s provisions “increase prescription-drug prices for everyone.”

While most will agree that the taxing and social services need overhauled in a major way, I think what Ryan is proposing is seen as too radical by many. I think if the country could gradually move into the changes, many people would be more willing to accept it. I'm sure that there are many Republicans that feel that his plans are just too drastic all at once.

I was reading an article today that said Romney wasn't going to go with Ryan's plan, but when it came out I remember Romney backing it. Why has he changed his mind on it? I know both parties flip flop so much that I don't even know if they know what they want. It just seems that they say today what they think the voters want to hear. I know Obama does it all the time.

I guess I'm just getting sick of all the party politics and the career politicians doing what is best for the 500 some in D.C. and not what's best for the millions in this country who put them there. Our government is a joke.

It may seem too radical, but in reality, it's not radical enough. Which is why it would take so long to lead to a balanced budge. I understand that it's hard to do all of this at once as people will freak out about what's going to happen tomorrow, and not see what it does for us 5, 10, 20 years from now. We need drastic measures to keep us from continuing to slide into the abyss (Greece). With where we're currently going, that's where we're headed.

Nobody has the balls to do anything more radical, which, absolutely, is what is needed.

I know the poor don't want to pay more taxes. Actually, I should put it another way. The poor don't want to have less spending power. But that's what Ryan's plan will do to them. Those making <$30K will pay around 0.9% more taxes under Ryan's plan. Add on to that the services the plan will cut (food stamps, etc) and they'll be a lot worse off. The ones who make out like bandits are those making millions and billions.

Time to start killing off the old people.

They are UNBELIEVABLY expensive to keep around. The medical bills alone are staggering, but there's also that pesky Social Security problem. Also, they smell terrible.

Actually, scratch that. We don't need to start killing them, we just need to let them die as God intended.

This is what comes from messing with God's plans.

                            • Paul Ryan gave Romney camp several years of tax returns

(Reuters) - Mitt Romney released two years of his own tax returns to the public but that didn't appear to be enough when he vetted running-mate Paul Ryan and other vice presidential candidates.

The campaign team for Romney, the Republican presidential candidate, reviewed several years of tax returns from Ryan and others, according to the head of Romney's VP search process Beth Myers.

But Romney - a former private equity executive with an estimated net worth of up to $250 million - has refused to publicly release more than two years of tax returns.

The secrecy has led Democrats to say he has something to hide about his vast wealth, which included bank accounts in Switzerland, and in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda, known offshore tax havens.
