They came in about 78. There weren't many but it was about 76 that I first saw them in an airshow at eltoro. My memory isn't the greatest, but the thing I remember most is them skimming the runway and then doing a 90 degree climb straight up above the clouds. We had never seen anything like that in the past.

    From wiki:
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is an all-weather supersonic, twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole combat aircraft, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas and Northrop, the F/A-18 was derived from the latter's YF-17 in the 1970s for use by the United States Navy and Marine Corps. The Hornet is also used by the air forces of several other nations, and formerly by the U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels.

I tend to think all of the current influx of "UFO" sightings are simply highly-advanced drones from other superpowers - most likely China, obviously. You notice how all of the current, modern-day crop of sightings are mostly happening in and around the US or US assets, right? And how fast a drone moves matters not at all with respectability of the g-force survivability of a human.

Either that, of even freakin' ET knows how awesome 'Merica is and knows where to go when he's in the solar system.

No, they were f 18s used by the Marine Corp and navy only. I'm sure they have been modified since then but....

Not trying to sound like a Tom Cruise wanna-be, but the F18 has only ever been a Navy/Marine aircraft. The Navy/Marines and the Air Force each have distinct aircraft, for the most part, especially fighters. Even the new F35 has three models - one for USAF, one for the Navy/Marines, and one for the Marines exclusively. And they're each very different.

Look at the sky at night. Most of those stars are suns within their own solar system. Now as far as we know space is infinite. Meaning there may be an infinite number of solar systems containing multiple planets within each.

I have a harder time believing that we are the only planet with life, than I do believing that somewhere there is life forms with greater technology than humans on earth.

Certainly, but do they have technology so advanced that they come here just to tease us?

Not disputing your claim at all. I am a former marine and all I know is what I saw.

Tease? Nice play but, let me ask this question. Do we attempt to go to other planets just to "tease" possible life forms on them ? No,.... Exploration, research and studies. Same thing as we do trying to get to the bottom of the ocean and the core of earth.

                  Here's a theory I've seen.
We were an inferior species on another planet, so they brought a few of us humans on earth to see if we could survive on our own. Since Roman times there have been signs of UFOs. even going as far as to looking at them as our gods.

I don't subscribe to that theory, but hey, prove it wrong.

What I’m saying is that with all the photographic tech we have, we haven’t been able to capture a good image of a craft. Why would so many of them show up and not make contact, or if they are so superior, why are they running from our planes or at the least, preventing us from photographing them?

When you are talking about a new theory, it is up to that theory to provide evidence, it’s not supposed until proven wrong.

I had an old friend (Airforce pilot) that passed away several years ago (dementia) and he told an interesting story that was 100% believable (way before any signs of dementia). He and his co-pilot were flying a mission in a KC-135 from St. Louis to the west coast and a UFO (saucer shape craft with crazy lights) pulled up beside them and cruised with them for several minutes; they alerted the Airforce about what they were seeing. After a few minutes of being their 'wingman', the UFO 'shot off' into the night at incredible speeds and immediately went out of sight (1960's or early 70's). I believe he just wanted to share the story with someone before his time was up (he actually shared it with me and another guy). They were instructed to land at the nearest Airforce base and were shuttled off in a van, interrogated and told never to speak of the incident again.

I just don't know what to think about UFO's? In one way, I want to believe there's something else out there, but when I do, it scares the bejesus out of me.
