The movie is free on Amazon Prime. Should I read the book first or just watch the movie?

I sadly haven't read the book yet. I'm sure it's better, it pretty much always is. But I did find the movie fun and enjoyable. Good cast too.

While never witnessing UFOs with my eyes, we were on a training mission in 29 palms back in the late 70s. 2 blips showed up on our radars so we dispatched a couple of F18s to go investigate what we were seeing. As soon as the F18S turned in the direction of the blips, the blips took off faster than anything we had seen. So we never could confirm what they were.

                            Honest question.

We had F18s in service in the 70s?

No. They entered service in '83.

                              Probably meant the YF17
