Ron DeSantis makes a visit to a Kansas Schmidt rally to help AG Schmidt against Gov. Kelly.

Kelly’s campaign representative said the Republicans had to bring in a decisive person (Gov. DeSantis) to help Schmidt win. Ironic that no one has been more divisive than President Biden, and Kelly appears to be one of Biden’s biggest supporters.

It’s also ironic that Martha’s Vineyard (Upper class Vacation destination)is a Sanctuary City, but continues to be CRY babies because 50 illegals were sent to their community.

Lee Zeldin: NYC Is Experiencing A Little Bit Of What It's Like To Be A Border State

REP. LEE ZELDIN (R-NY), GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE: You're hearing from Mayor Eric Adams in New York City about how the shelter systems being more overwhelmed than ever before.

We're reading stories about how some of these migrants are now getting put into hotels in Times Square. It costs, not just from the housing standpoint, but also there are the costs on the health care standpoint, from the education standpoint.

      https://www.realclearpolitics.com/vi...der_state.html

There are crimes that are being committed, additional crimes, beyond just somebody coming into the country illegally. That's the reality right now. And it's being somewhat reported. You talk about the cost. It's not just about individuals who come, but they might be bringing fentanyl, the drug trafficking, the sex trafficking, busting an MS-13 gang and they're engaged in some type of sex trafficking.

The way that these gangs are financing their operations are often engaged in other illegal activities.
So, the strain is also on the law enforcement perspective too. The solution is at our border. I feel bad for these states that feel like they need to operate as if they're also the federal government, deploying their own troops to their own border, and not being backed up by the federal government.

And, as far as ICE goes, they want to be able to work with state and local law enforcement. In New York, for example, they passed a new law called the green light law, which prevents the federal authorities from being able to look into the DMV databases.

History and basic economic theory would indicate you can choose one of the two following options, but choosing both is untenable and unsustainable:

        -Open immigration

        -A robust welfare/social service state

Currently, the progressive left is forcing both options, which is economic retardation, but that's their thing.

Here’s an interesting story of an Immigration Reform proposal from a current member of the House of Representatives. Maria Salazar was born in Little Havana in Miami Florida. She was a daughter of Cuban Exiles, so she is a daughter of recent Immigrants. She has given an Immigration proposal to Nancy Pelosi to solve the Immigration Crisis. However, Pelosi has not allowed it to be debated by the House Immigration Committee. It’s called The Dignity Act.

          https://salazar.house.gov/media/pres...es-dignity-act

i have perused the proposal (not read in depth), and it looks like a good policy. The reason I bring it up is to call attention to the fact that the Democrats don’t care about Immigration or Immigrants. Salazar does, and feels strongly about it. She pointed out that neither Obama, Biden, Schumer, nor Pelosi have brought up any proposals to solve this issue.

Here are her major views on her bill: They are quite reasonable and might find lawmakers in both parties that support them. However, Pelosi would not allow this proposal to be discussed.

Salazar is an articulate former journalist for Telemundo and an impressive individual. She doesn’t appear to be a typical politician at this time who cares more about getting elected than actual policies to make the United States, and Miami better.

I saw illegal immigration numbers today that are quite large. Fox reported that in 2021 illegal immigration numbers that the Border Police knew about were at 1.7 Million, and in 2022, as of today, they number 2.1 Million with over 3 Months remaining. Thus, we will have more than 4 Million Illegal immigrants who have entered since Biden became President, and that is only the one's who entered and turned themselves in.

We are gaining an abundance of poor immigrants, many who do need education, and cannot speak the language. Taxes will continue to go up to pay for the services, and right now, Biden does not require any work requirements to receive welfare.

Here are the high points of Maria Salazar's Dignity Act Proposal mentioned above. Her proposal is very well balanced for both sides. They include border security, and a pathway to citizenship.

            CONGRESSWOMAN SALAZAR INTRODUCES DIGNITY ACT

Key Provisions of the Dignity Act:

            Border Security and Enforcement
            • Authorizes funding to fully secure America’s border at no cost to American taxpayers.
            • Implements best border technology available – including radar, cameras, infrared, secure communications, and autonomous detection technology.
            • Restarts all currently paused border infrastructure contracts and increases funding for physical border infrastructure.
            • Hires 3,000 new DHS border security personnel and prioritizes hiring of military veterans and law enforcement agents.
            • Creates a task force to detect and destroy cartel smuggling tunnels along the southern border.
            • Mandates 100% nationwide e-verify to ensure all American business are hiring legal workers.
            • Increases criminal penalties for illegal border crossings and immediately deports illegal immigrants who commit crimes.
            • Expands U.S. authorities to go after transnational criminals, smugglers, human traffickers, drug traffickers, and gangs like MS-13 operating outside the United States.
            • Establishes 4 Regional Processing Centers to house asylum claimants at the border to end catch and release policies while cases are being determined.
            • Enacts last-in, first-out judicial policy to cut down multi-year backlog in immigration courts.
            • Hires 1,700 new immigration court personal to rule on asylum cases faster.
            • Curbs irregular migration from Central America and address roots causes of northern migration by bring law, order, and increased development to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

            Addressing Immigrants Living in America
            • Creates immediate legal status and streamlined path for Dreamers.
            • Dignity Program (10 Years): Through the 10-year Dignity Program, undocumented immigrants will be provided a chance to work, earn legal status, pay restitution, and get right with the law. They must comply with all federal and state laws, pass a criminal background check, work or serve as a family caregiver, and pay taxes. They must contribute to the American Worker Fund to begin the program. The Dignity program provides work authorization and protection from removal proceedings as long as conditions are being met. Dignity participants will pay $10,000 in restitution during the 10 years of the program, must check in with DHS every 2 years, and must remain in good public standing.
            • Individuals in the Dignity Program will not have access to federal means-tested benefits or entitlements. They will be net contributors to tax revenue and the U.S. economy.
            • The Redemption Program (+5 years): The Redemption Program is optional, and individuals must complete the 10-year Dignity Program to start the Redemption Program. It will offer a chance at redemption and to earn more permanent legal status. The 5-year Redemption Program requires that participants learn English and U.S. civics, and provides the opportunity for those seeking permanent legal status to contribute to their local community either through local volunteer work, national community service, or increased contributions into the American Worker Fund. It also opens up eligibility for existing pathways to citizenship, but would not be a special pathway. Individuals applying would go to the back of the line.
            • Enforcement through a functioning mandatory e-verify system and certification of a fully secure border will be completed before the Redemption Program can begin.

            American Workforce and Economy
            • Creates an American Worker Fund, using restitution payments from the Dignity and Redemption programs, at no-cost to taxpayers. This provides grants to American citizens for workforce education initiatives, apprenticeship programs, and Career and Technical Education to give opportunities for Americans to enter new careers.
            • For every $10,000 paid by 1 immigrant in the Dignity program will, this can retrain at least 2 Americans workers.
            • Implements a market-based solution for our labor shortages by expanding and modernizing the H-2A Agricultural Guest Worker program to adequately respond to workforce needs.
            • Updates the antiquated definition of farming to reflect modern-day farming practices, setting a policy that works for all of America’s farmers, growers, and ranchers.
            • Provides wage stability for farmers and ensures a resilient and reliable agricultural commodity supply chain.
            • Combats food price inflation so families can continue to have access to affordable groceries and a large variety of products that originate from American farms.
            • Includes the H-2B Returning Worker Exception Act to ensure that small and seasonal businesses can fulfill their labor needs and contribute to our nation’s post-pandemic economic recovery.

I have no problem granting legal status to people here illegally, after they serve a fine or sentence. But I think they should never be allowed to vote IN ANY election. There needs to be a heavy price and removing their right to vote, IMO, remove a lot of political pandering . People who claimed amnesty at a legal crossing would not be included in this. Just the fence jumpers.

If her proposal was debated, and considered (which will never happen under Pelosi), it will have a number of challenges by lawmakers, with changes if there is any hope of passing. The redline ShockerPrez mentions is only one of them. My main concern is border security, and tightening, This a must prerequisite. This problem should not be a revolving door crisis After the border is hardened, then decisions can be made to allow for legal immigration.

I simply don't think we get constructive action on her proposal given the current state of politics at the national level. Open borders, as Shockvalue implied, works for too many special interests ranging from business to big government. Maybe an overly depressing scenario, but there it is.

This plan seems reasonable and very close to some of the past proposals that went nowhere under Presidents Bush and Obama. I think most politicians are just too scared to touch the immigration issue. I think the best chance to pass something like this is during a lame duck session. Maybe

The ironic thing is that Trump, was serious abut negotiating a compromise, which is what will be required to reach a deal, and he would have pulled some Conservatives (grudgingly) with him. Trump wasn't really an ideological Conservative (probably more moderate Republican/Democrat). Democrats always say that there are 11 Million Illegals awaiting citizenship. That number was from 20 years ago. Now, it's closer to 25-30 Million. Each day, they wait, and more illegals are allowed in (thats not counting the got aways), the ability to compromise gets harder.

Democrats are now trying to pass a bill that would prevent states from transporting illegal immigrants into other states.
I suppose this means that they (Dems) want to control which states the illegals go to. My guess, they would send them to the battleground states and help them secure a method to vote.
