DENVER— Seventy-five migrants bused from Texas by Governor Greg Abbott are now in Chicago. This is all part of a strategy launched this year to share the influx of people coming into the U.S. with sanctuary cities across the country to protest President Joe Biden's immigration policies. Denver and Aurora are part of that list of sanctuary cities.

“I’ve got news for New York, I’ve got news for Washington D.C., as well as the rest of the country. We are not done yet. There are more cities on our list,” said Abbott.

How did we allow the federal government to have complete control over foreign nationals illegally entering your state en masse? Individual states should have just as much, or even more, say on how apprehended illegal aliens are dealt with.

Because immigration, legal and illegal, is a national issue, not a state issue?

It seems to me that even though immigration may be a national issue, if the federal government decides to do nothing about illegal immigration, the state has every right to take matters into their own hands. Illegal is illegal. Isnt it within the state rights to enforce federal law?

Here’s the answers to your question

What you stated could overlap and be a courts issue.

It's both. Texas has a serious problem and the wherewithal to handle it themselves. Why can't they? Why does the federal government have the last word in handling illegal aliens crossing into Texas from Mexico?

Just several months ago, the red states were pushing for the Federal Government to continue enforcement of the Trump Remain in Mexico policy (for those immigrants seeking asylum to remain. Historically, a very small percentage qualify for asylum which is a political safety issue for the immigrants. Most immigrants historically are considered to be seeking legal immigrant status into the U.S. for economic reasons, not political asylum. Those are sent back to where they came from.

Back to the red red states taking Biden to court, the SCOTUS said that it was an executive decision by Biden and HLS. The Red States lost, because Biden did not continue Trump’s Remain in Mexico policy and therefore, the immigration floodgates continued to be wide open.

The Red states would have to take on a different strategy, perhaps state safety because of the amount of Fentanyl or some other legal strategy.

I would be okay with open immigration if:

We processed folks at the border (none of this sneaking in stuff) and the immigrants had to maintain employment, pay into SS, but can’t withdrawal it, have no felonies.

It would seem that the states, according to this diagram should declare this a public safety emergency. It would then fall within their rights to enforce laws directed at illegal immigration. Of course there would be a Supreme Court fight, but by my admittedly simple thinking, it would be very difficult to prove that the massive influx of illegal immigrants did not create a public emergency. But what do I know.

I still think it's funny that the Federal gov't will sue the states to allow them not to enforce the law.
