  • I think we can put the idea that "candidate quality matters" to rest if dead people and Fetterman are being elected by Dems. The only thing that matters is the number of people your teachers have indoctrinated per decade.

No, not talking about John Fetterman.

Anthony “Tony” DeLuca was reelected in the Pennsylvania State House which would make him the longest-serving state representative; if he was still living. However, he died in October.

What a let down Pennsylvania was for Republicans for these midterm elections. The state was so successful at not contributing to a red wave of Republican wins that it actually even elected a deceased Democrat. Anthony “Tony” DeLuca was reelected in the Pennsylvania State House which would make him the longest-serving state representative; if he was still living. However, he died in October.

The Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus wrote Democrat Anthony “Tony” DeLuca died Oct. 9 “after a brief battle with lymphoma, a disease he twice previously beat. He was 85.”

“While we’re incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters to continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously. A special election will follow soon,” Pennsylvania House Democrats said in a tweet.

Or we could just go with Dem voters are lazy so voting by mail makes it easier for them to be lazy.
I think you could chalk it up to Dem vs. Rep if it weren't an over 3 to 1 discrepancy. That is more than a coincidence in my opinion.

        • Conservatives should be all about education reform:

Outlawing government unions (starting with teachers unions)

Stacking school boards with conservatives for oversight and to emphasize reading, writing, math, etc.

Replacing teachers whose students are consistently not making the grade

Stop hiring teachers with degrees in "Education" and emphasize hiring subject matter experts (e.g. let a person with a degree in engineering, science, or math teach calculus for poops sake)

Once the unions are gone, empower educators to have more control over unruly students, and shorten the tolerance levels

          Massive reduction in social sciences

I don’t think going against the teachers Union is a winning strategy. They carry a lot of sway.

Yup, massive uphill battle. Its gotta happen though, and you gotta start sometime. The real question is, what is the death by a thousand cuts strategy to getting there?

It has to be a local strategy led by parents and other local Conservatives or moderate concerned citizens. I think that if seen as a National strategy and a Republican Party strategy it becomes a losing one. That's a lot of locals getting involved, but Teachers Unions are mainly strong in Urban, and large cities (Suburban cities too)..

                • Nationally, government unions shouldn't be able to make contributions to political campaigns/committees/purposes.

Maybe I don't understand how this works but it feels like: I am paying taxes to pay for a government employee to help cover their government union dues so that the union can pay off political campaigns.

The Local Maricopa County Official in charge of elections (the equivalent of our election commissioner) is Republican Stephen Richer. So I doubt he would be purposely doing something to help Democrats.

                    • Masters loses AZ and Laxalt’s lead in Nevada has all but disappeared which will render the GA runoff meaningless UNLESS Manchin wants to make a play for his own power.

                      • PALM BEACH, FL — Former President Trump's ambitious bid to be DeSantis's VP running mate in 2024 is off to a rocky start this week after Trump wrote a long missive criticizing Governor DeSantis with the incisive new nickname "Ron DeSanctimonious."

                        • When I started seeing people self-sorting based on whether they live in blue states or red states or blue counties or red counties, I knew this was becoming a cultural and values issue more than a political issue. Thirty years ago we had an electorate that would look around and see inflation is high, gas is high, food is high, mortgage rates are going up but house prices are not coming down, car prices are high, they would say let's vote these people out because they aren't making things better. Then you would see a wave election with the opposition party winning big.

Now we have an electorate that says Republicans don't share my values so I won't vote for them. Even when Democrats aren't making things better, they will vote for Democrats because Republicans don't share their values. The only thing that will change this trajectory is a religious revival. People need to go back to church. Then they will start believing again in moral values and they'll be open to a party that espouses moral values. If it doesn't happen, Republicans will become as secular as the Dems just so they can win with this electorate.

                          • The GOP lead in just 10 of the 23 uncalled house races. Several of those are tiny leads. I think the most they could hope to win is 11. The House is still very much up for grabs.

Does anyone know what happens in AK ? If the winner doesn't get to 50 is there a runoff?

Wow.....kind of answered my own question....but then, no.

                            YMMV

Democrat U.S. Rep. Mary Peltola maintained her lead Wednesday afternoon--pulling slightly ahead-- after first-choice votes were tallied overnight and throughout the day. Peltola holds a large lead in the race with more votes over the current second-place candidate, former Gov. Sarah Palin who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

                            • Ok a little late night conjecture, so if “manipulating” the ballots/votes is a norm…as some Republicans (myself on that ledger) say…can’t two play that game? I mean, if the rules are: “there are no rules”…why don’t the R’s do that too?

                              • Masto leads for the first time since Tuesday by about 3k and everyone has called the race for her. They have to fix this crap.

John Fetterman could count faster than Nevada, Arizona and California.
