Nah, OJ's 90's Ford Bronco wasn't that cool looking. But the new ones are bad ass! The 60's and 70's are bad ass too! But they just weren't the same in the 80s and 90s.

I like the style but severely disappointed in the engine offerings. For the money, I am going with a Rubicon.

What type of suspension is the Bronco rocking? The Jeep’s are an antiquated solid axle. Great (the best?) for off road and being at a bizarre tilt, but not so good for on road comfort.

Okay, so I looked it up. You get an IFS and solid rear axle on the Bronco. The Jeep will absolutely torch the Bronco on the boulders. I did “boulders” three times in 8 years and have a prison proof butt hole pucker as a result. The Bronco is probably better suited for 90% of potential buyers use.

Bronco vs Wrangler should be a good debate for years to come!

Isn't a V6 with that power to weight ratio plenty of horsepower?

Yes it is. I was curious about the engine complaints. Engines are so good now across all makes and models. 300 HP in an SUV. Doesn’t anyone remember the 180 hp Camaro Iroc from 1986?

If you want to go fast, get a sports car. The Bronco has a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds and a 14 second quarter mile with the V-6.

                    I have a bone stock 454 with only 75,000 miles. :)

For the Bronco I would want something that's efficient for 99 percent of the time, but enough power to get me out of a jam when I am fly fishing in the Rockies. I think a modern, efficient-ish V6 is perfect for that.

Wait, no, the 454 is not bone stock anymore. I swapped out the quadrajet for a holley carb. I digress.

I hesitantly got rid of my Wrangler in November because I have back issues. Even in the Sahara trim, you don’t get power seats or lumbar support. At 6-3, my knees were always in the dash or on the door/center console. My boys are just shy of puberty, and the back seat of a Wrangler unlimited just isn’t comfortable for road trips, and the kids crying every time some water was up over the door sill made the experience that much more stressful.

Although my Wrangler was paid off, I was able to trade in the Wrangler and get a new Ram 1500 Laramie for a little over $400/month. It is ridiculously comfortable and roomy. Heated/cooled front and rear seats, cameras, adaptive cruise and wipers, same gas mileage, much faster and smoother. I think this vehicle will offer a more practical solution for my stage in life.

                        I want my Wrangler back!

Yeah, I'd like my old CJ-7 back.

Sort of. Think they're neat, just don't have a use case for one. Practicality is low. I'd probably do a Bronco with the Sasquatch package though, if I had to choose between the two right now. Definitely not a Bronco Sport. If I had unlimited funds I'd have a modded-up Wrangler or Bronco in the collection, but they're really only good at one thing - off road - and arguably kinda awful at everything else one looks for in daily transportation.

Picking up a F350 Tremor I ordered back in December though this weekend. Eyes on the prize.

Don't think the full size Bronco will make a decent daily driver with the added ability to have some fun here and there?

I certainly think it will be better than the Jeep in that regard. The Jeep Wrangler derivatives truly are one trick ponies though. Awesome at off road, poor in handling, ride, acceleration/braking, towing ability, fuel efficiency (in light of towing/hauling limitations), and interior comfort/ergos. Since the Bronco is a clean sheet, I would imagine it improves on much of that to some degree. The Jeep stuff is stuck in a bit of a feedback loop just like Harley Davidson at the moment.

If you're not going off road - and I mean like trips to Colorado and Moab and whatnot - neither is really a great choice. Still a free country for a few more months though, so folks can drive what they darn well choose.
