History has not had a problem with election year nominations, regardless of who occupied the Senate or White House. So I don't see an issue with Trump making a nomination or for the Senate to vote on it. But McConnell was wrong in 2016 and he should admit that, rather than give some silly justification that wouldn't pass muster on an elementary school playground.
it will be worse than you can imagine for your kids and grandkids or future grandkids. They are already talking about changing the courts and Congress for a generation or more (by packing the Supreme Court with several more ultra liberal Democrat judges, and add 4 more Democrat Senators by granting Peurto RICO, and Washington DC statehood. Those areas are more liberal than New York and we could have several more AOC’s in the Senate (4) and House(at least a couple). You may think I’m crazy when I say that Venezuela could be a possibility but it could. In addition to Socialism, Religious Freedom could be more at risk.

GOP are saying they have the vote. If they get this through, but loose the Senate and Presidency, we will see a dramatic radical agenda from the Dems. If they don’t get this through, but loose, the radical agenda will be much slower.Livin the dream

HOLY ****!! That would be pretty damn entertaining. Then the country would fall apart, but that would be funny...."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

Stinky Fingers says the public "shouldn't have a right to know" who he would nominate.
They've. Learned. Nothing. And Trump's the one who's a criminal, eh?

The Dems are going to push their radical agenda regardless of what happens with the latest confirmation. They will stop at nothing and the SCOTUS situation really changes nothing. Even more reason for the President and Senate to continue to push forward with their plans.
Also, if the GOP pushes this through, then it takes the issue off the ballot and may, in fact, de-energize any momentum for the Dems going into the election they otherwise might have had.
There is zero reason not to go forward, other than snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, which the GOP does all to often."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

No different than the rest of his campaign. No real plans or solutions to the "problems". Just, "trust me, I am going to do great things so vote for me".
But that's alright because they can discuss many things when the first debate takes place next Tuesday.Last edited by ShockingButTrue; September 22, 2020, 03:12 PM.

This has happened 29 times in the history of our nation.
19 times the Presidency and the Senate were controlled by the same party and 17 of the 19 were confirmed during an election year.
10 times the Presidency and the Senate were controlled by opposing parties and only 2 of the 10 were confirmed during an election year.
If that information is accurate, the Republicans were historically correct not to take up the Obama nominee in 2016, and Republicans are also historically correct to push Trump's nominee through in 2020.
