    • Well, if they can't have their way in the Senate, they'll try through the Justice Department.

They will have a tough time with that.

        • It's honestly hard to believe that in 2021, with all the access to information afforded all of us, that the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and his minions as well as most of the media continue to lie to the American people about the Georgia Voting Law.

          It's disgusting to be honest.

On a different tact, I don't believe there's a chance in hell that Joe Biden is running in 2024. Maybe he will, but I would put it at less than 5%. VP Harris is a complete buffoon and unless she gets a brain transplant, or the electorate is even more stupid than I think, she's un-electable. So it's going to be another open election imho.

Depending on how redistricting goes, I think it's better than 50-50 that the GOP retakes the House. Certainly if things continue on the track the Dems have the country going right now for another 16 months they are sunk, but that's a long way away.

I don't have a very positive thought about the Senate. The GOP need to hold all 20 seats and then pick up one to take control. It could happen. There are many battleground seats but I don't have a good feeling right now.

The GOP should have no problem holding Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota & Utah. That's 12.

Iowa, Louisiana and Missouri (Roy Blunt retiring) appear pretty safe right now but things could change. Let's count as safe. That's 15.

They would need 6 out of:

Arizona (continues to trend more DEM and even though the witch isn't up in 22, her stance on not getting rid of the filibuster will strengthen the DEM hold I believe)

          Florida (trending GOP)

Georgia (current DEM a shitshow, but who knows right now in GA)

          New Hampshire

          Nevada

North Carolina (slight trend GOP but Burr retiring)

Ohio (Should be GOP but Portman retiring )

Pennsylvania (Toomey retiring and PA a total toss up)

Wisconsin (who knows what to expect there)

          I don't see 6 out of 9 there.

Best chance the GOP have, imho, right now is Ohio, Florida, North Carolina.....and it gets dicey as hell after that. Maybe Georgia, New Hampshire and pray for one of PA or WI.

I am ignoring California, Colorado, Conn, Hawaii, Illinois,Maryland, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Washington. Only Colorado isn't a DEM lock, and it's a DEM lock.

          • Sadly, I don’t think the GOP is the answer to the left. I have become cynical and don’t have the answer other than “resist”.

It’s easy not to trust politicians but I’m afraid that within the next two years (before the next election), Bernie and the New Democrat Party will Ram through Bernie’s 6 Trillion Dollar agenda with unspent money through 2031 (more money than the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe) that will Change America more than Johnson did with The Great Society. Biden is threatening to do this through Budget Reconciliation with only 50 Democrat votes plus VP Harris’ vote as Senate President.

Bernie will then have his Socialistic vision largely passed by only one party after a almost 50/50 election. Hyper inflation could well be the result with a never ending debt to go along with it.

Religious freedoms, parenting freedoms, and other freedoms are already on the on the way out with Critical Race Theory, Trans, Abortion on demand, and other radical policies becoming the law. I won’t live long enough to see all of the gradual policy shifts until democracy and freedoms are no more.

Thats is when you will want a full time RV lifestyle for your families.

I’m honestly not worried about Bernie. He’s a misguided idealist. I’m worried about those that have my “best interest” in mind.

                  Just "spit ballin'".

The GOP has the Right and Far Right.

The Democrats have the Left and Far Left.

The Moderates are the swing vote. Most do not care for the Far Right or Far Left, but I believe the Far Right "scares" the Moderates less than the Far Left and the Far Right has smaller numbers.

Trump had policies that could attract most Moderates, but Trump could not get out of his own way and that cost him too many Moderates.

The Democrats are pandering more to the Far Left than what most Moderates thought they would and this could easily cost them votes, particularly with Biden and Harris looking much weaker than anticipated.

The key for the GOP is to figure out how to attract the Moderates during a mid-term and not have Trump "spoil" potential gains.

                  • I have far left friends, and they hate the Dems. I have far right acquaintances, and they despise the GOP.

The country is pretty far apart on an ideological basis when you look at the 20% or so of people on the edges. The real problem is the demonization of the remaining 40% that is oppositionally moderate.

My post was "in generalities". I'm just not sure how many are on the edges, but I do feel that their numbers are overblown due to the overexposure they get in the news. Also, just how many "hollywood types" are there? They get a whole lot more play than their real numbers. However, no doubt that unearned play gets them addition followers.

                      • The media, especially MSM is overbearingly liberal. They, at best stop, ignore, and slant stories that go against their biased narrative, and at times totally lie. . They protect Biden and his family, and they make it more difficult now, than anytime in history for the public to be informed of and/or against the elected powerful, and connected elites.

I think you underestimate his current power. I don’t trust Manchin and Synema to maintain their coalition against the Democrat group power. Group pressure usually wins out.

What special power does Bernie have that Pelosi and McConnel don’t? Bernie doesn’t even have as much power as the squad.

The energy in the Democrat Party is in Bernie's, and AOC's, etc. wing of the party. Barack Obama started the movement left (started somewhat slowly), and it has progressed quickly in the years since. Many people don't notice it, but he Democrat Party is being driven left in a whirlwind (fast pace). The President (who has extreme Progressives in the middle of his Administration) acts like a Moderate, and a bi-partisan, but governs very left wing.

For example, Pres. Biden came out with a supposedly bi-partisan infrastructure bill two days ago (my point isn't to get into whether the infrastructure bill is a good thing or waste of money). Those Republicans (some moderate and some more liberal-Collins, Portman, Murkowski, Romney, etc) thought that they were negotiating across party lines, with the President in good faith, and they were negotiating for less new money, no new taxes, and how much spending it would actually become which became 1 Trillion Dollars or so. Manchin, Synema, and other moderate Democrats were involved too. No Tea Party Republicans involved

A couple of hours after the President came out with the group, in front of the White House, and cameras to announce their agreement, IN the Senate, they need 60 votes for the infrastructure bill to pass. Within a short time, Bernie (Senate Budget Chairman) let the White House know that this bill would not be enough, and in a short time, Biden announced that another several Trillion dollar bill would be passed through Reconciliation in the Senate for Child Care, more on Green Energy, etc. that would need no Republican support. IN effect, the entire 6 Trillion dollars that Bernie has been pushing will be pushed through. There are moderate Republicans in the Senate, but almost no Moderate Democrats (Manchin and Synema only ones)

The question is whether Manchin and Synema, under pressure, will go along with the Reconciliation Budget Bill that Bernie wants. I hope they won't but predict they will. Regardless, Bernie is pushing the Democrat Party left more and more all the time. The Democrats are trying to stick together so much that they go along with whatever he wants.

They don't mention Bernie in the article linked below, but from what I've gathered, he's been pushing this strategy. There are few moderate Democrats in the Senate, but there are quite a few moderate Republicans.
