From what I have read so far the Chiefs draft is being graded somewhere between C- to B+ and characterized as "Talented but risky". Chiefs grade is probably considered below average because their 1st round pick is considered a "reach".

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/s...s-and-analysis CBS sports is little rougher giving Chiefs a C-

      Kansas City Chiefs: C-

As typical of a Scott Pioli-led draft, the Chiefs' 2011 class featured a few highly productive, criminally underrated prospects in the middle rounds who will prove future NFL starters. Those players, former Florida State guard Rodney Hudson, Colorado cornerback Jalil Brown and Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi, helped to save a class that otherwise was very uncharacteristic of the Chiefs and Pioli. First-round wideout Jon Baldin (Pittsburgh) has undeniable talent, but isn't as physical as his imposing size (6-4, 228 pounds) would indicate and he was a headache, at times, for the Pittsburgh coaching staff. Georgia's Justin Houston, likewise, is a bit of a 'tweener whose collegiate production was over-inflated by scheme. He also reportedly failed a drug test at the combine. The Chiefs were deservedly recognized as having a spectacular draft last year. This one, however, leaves me scratching my head.

        Fox like the Chiefs draft.

        Kansas City Chiefs: B+

Draft picks: WR Jonathan Baldwin (first round), C Rodney Hudson (second round), LB Justin Houston (third round), DE Allen Bailey (third round), CB Jalil Brown (fourth round), QB Ricky Stanzi (fifth round), LB Gabe Miller (fifth round), DT Jerrell Powe (sixth round), FB Shane Bannon (seventh round).

Analysis: The first three players have a good chance to start this season. And Bailey and Brown should contribute in backup roles. Bannon, if he makes the team, could challenge for the starting fullback role.

There are lots of varying opinions on the Kansas City Chiefs 2011 NFL draft class ranging from great upside to head scratcher. I've been calling the class a B at this point (with the caveat that you can't truly grade a class 24 hours after the draft is over).

Look for Studebaker and 3rd draft pick Justin Houston to battle for the starting spot to replace Vrabel

The Chiefs just lost a ton of leadership.

Yea but it was his time, leadership can only take you so far, when you are starting you need production from a 3-4 OLB, and 0 sacks and 48 tackles wont cut it.

KCs been preparing for him to retire since they traded for him. Look for Cory(?) Greenwood to make a splash this year too. Studebaker will be the starter when the dust clears. Be sure to take this D in fantasy football. They are probably the most underrated D in the NFL.

Yup figured this is how it will go down, last minutes, but will not miss any preseason games most likely. Although I guess there is a chance they cancel the Hall of Fame game. Now its going to be interesting on how the proceeding to training Camp go. Like when free agency period and who are free agents? Supplemental Draft? When are the Draft picks going to be signed? Undrafted Free agents?

Sources: NFL Players Agree to Deal to End Lockout
The major economic framework for the deal was worked out more than a week ago.

That included how the more than $9 billion in annual league revenues will be divided (about 53 percent to owners and 47 percent to players over the next decade; the old CBA resulted in nearly a 50-50 split); a per-club cap of about $120 million for salary and bonuses in 2011 -- and at least that in 2012 and 2013 -- plus about $22 million for benefits; a salary system to rein in spending on first-round draft picks; and unrestricted free agency for most players after four seasons.

Should the players' executive committee vote to accept the deal, it then would go to the 32 team representatives to approve, perhaps later Monday. After that, the total membership would need to vote, with a simple majority required for passage.

The 10 named plaintiffs in the players' lawsuit against the league -- including Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees -- must officially inform the court in Minneapolis of their approval of the pact, too.

Even after that, while training camps would be opened, a true CBA can't be agreed upon until the NFLPA re-establishes itself as a union. Players will need to vote to do so even as the sides put the finishing touches on a deal; only after the NFLPA is again a union can it negotiate such items as the league's personal conduct policy and drug testing.
