  • KC Chiefs Offseason Discussion

I'll get this thread going with the news that Matt Cassel gets to go to the Pro Bowl for Tom Brady.

Chiefs have the 21st pick in the draft this year. A #2 WR is a huge need. I could see us trading up for Julio Jones or AJ Green.

    I think they go "D"

But should trade up, get #1 WR.

      Three needs that stick out:

-#2 Wideout, need someone to draw attention from Bowe and even the running game.

-Interior Lineman, let's face it, Waters, Weigman, and Lilja aren't getting any younger.

-DE/OLB combo, need someone to compliment Hali and strengthen rush defense. Vrabel is getting pretty old as well.

A special teams specialist is something that would be nice to have besides McGraw and Copper.

With only a few major needs, we will more than likely be trading up for a WR or an Hali type of defender.

I vote NT, I think this is by far their biggest need

#1 WR (we already have a #2), Interior Line, OLB.

Are you really calling Bowe (#1 in touchdown receptions and #7 in yards) a #2 receiver?

Really? I thought Dorsey had made some strides from last year. He's not quite there yet, but give him another year.

Dorsey is not a NT in a 3-4, hes a DE, a NT in a 3-4 defense needs to be about 350 and be able to take on a couple blockers so the ILB can make plays.

A 300 lb pound DE? Woah!

I agree, he should gain some more weight, but easier said than done. He gets the job done for the most part. A DT definitely isn't the number one need right now.

yes a 3-4 DE are around 290- 300, right now our starting nose tackle is Ron Edwards which is ok, but we need an improvement there. But for the 3-4 defense to be good they need a big nose tackle in the middle to take on multiple blockers. 3-4 DE are alot different than 4-3 DE, 4-3 DE are your primarily press rushers, and in 3-4 DE the OLB linebackers are your primarily pass rushers, as Tamba Hali was for us this year.

Well I think Dorsey played more tackle this year than DE as Tamba Hali usually was the guy with his hand on the ground. I cant say for sure but I feel like we played alot of 4 man fronts against 21 personnel (2 te and 1 rb) and even 11 personel. This is probably becuase Tyson hasnt progessed as fast as we would of liked him to have.

Dorsey was a DE and Hali an OLB. Just because Hali rushes a lot with a hand on the ground doesn't change that. DT used to do the same thing from his LB position.

I loved that with DT - it was like the football version of the called shot.

And not only that, but Hali has been a DE for a long time and it's probably a comfort thing with him.

                              I miss watching DT play.
