I don't know about that, the ball was lose about the time the knee hit. It wasn't out until after he hit the ground, but did he have a clear and maintained posession when his knee hit the ground? I am not sure that he did.
The last replay they showed, the one with the head on angle view from the end zone clearly showed his knee was down, and down for nearly two seconds before the ball popped loose and when possession was lost.
Cassel found a nut with that bullet.
