I'm Boise State/TCU/Utah's biggest fan and would like to see any combination of those teams in the national championship.

I agree with newshock however that Oregon is for real. They are bulldozing every team they play. At this point, they appear to be the best team in the country. Their last "big" test is next Saturday night at USC.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

Arizona and @ Oregon State should both be a decent test. Oregon might be the best team right, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose. They usually coast through the first half, sometimes the first three quarters and then just demolish the other team in the 4th quarter. I think that'll eventually catch up with them.

One test, Stanford aside, Oregon should be bulldozing. The rest of their opponents have an 11-31 record. Not saying they're not for real, but the toughest part of their season is coming up.

You're right about the Oregon State game in Corvallis. That will be a bigtime rivalry game and could be the deal-breaker.

I'm still impressed with Oregon. I don't care if it takes until the 4th quarter to get everything going. They're still wiping the floor against moderately decent teams.

Arizona State was a pretty big road win at the time too.

You can only do as much as you can on your schedule. You're quick to back Boise State but their schedule isn't better obviously. Virginia Tech proved to be a tad overrated after they lost to a I-AA team at home a week after the Boise loss. Boise's road games have been considerably weaker as well. All 3 of them are against FBS's bottom dwellers. The game at Nevada will be an interesting one and definitely their toughest test remaining.

I'm just playing a little devil's advocate as again I want a non-BCS team in the NC game. However, I think Oregon has shown a bit more firepower against a generally stronger set of competition.

As far as the whole TCU/Boise thing goes, TCU deserves to be where they are because they actually prove themselves against solid competition like Air Force. Boise St. not so much, move to a better conference.
Look, I'm not going to knock TCU, but Boise St has proven just as much so far this year as TCU. They both beat ranked Oregon St by like margins, TCU beat an apparently good Baylor, but Boise St beat #10 Virginia Tech. And I believe Boise St beat TCU last year.

Yes, Boise St will be going to the MWC, but as for this year, the WAC isn't that much behind the MWC. The MWC has 4, maybe 5, pretty weak sisters. As for Air Force, yep, they only lost to OU by 3, but a second division Utah St from the WAC lost to OU by only 7.

You're absolutely correct SF. And that's my gripe!

Boise St/TCU have had no better (maybe a little better) schedule than Oregon. Yet the Quackers have managed to do a pole vault from preseason #11 over #3/#5 Boise St and #6/#7 TCU without beating anybody that's ever been above these two in the polls and only having to beat ONE team with a winning record.

TCU has proven themselves a lot more than Boise St. Boise State's most impressive win so far was over #21 VT. That's not saying a whole lot. You need to beat more than one ranked team in the 20's. (Oregon St. isn't ranked anymore).

TCU has beaten Oregon St. as well. They have also blown out Baylor and Air Force which are both very solid teams and should be getting some votes soon. They also have @ #7 Utah coming up on their schedule. I don't think either team should be in the top 5 as of now. But if TCU beats Utah they should be in a BCS bowl, maybe the NC depending on how other teams do.

 What ranked, or currently ranked, team has TCU beat, TO THIS POINT, to deserve being ranked above Boise St? The answer - NONE.

Let's see - TCU beat currently ranked #24/#25 Baylor. Boise St beat currently ranked #21/#21 Virginia Tech.

Air Force - Yes they got 1 vote between the two polls. Don't expect them to break into the Top 25 this year unless they beat Utah. Of course if they do that, it will somewhat tarnish a TCU win over Utah or make it a worse loss.

By the way - WAC teams Neveda and Hawaii are currently #26 and #27 in both polls, so the WAC does have some competition.

Why would you base a team's ranking just on top 25 games played? That makes no sense. To this point, TCU has impressed me more. Their schedule has been tougher and they have won with some style points(Baylor by 35 and AF by 31).

The two teams you mentioned from the WAC are definitely match ups to look for in the coming weeks. I want to see Boise State tested to see if they are the real deal.

ShoxFan963 - Look, I hope Boise St and TCU will meet each other in the BCS NC. If so, I really don't care who wins, but probably would root for TCU.

I just disagree with your assertion that TCU has proven a lot more than Boise St to this point. I think they've proven about the same. Boise St's best win is over a team that could probably end up in 1st or 2nd in the ACC and stay in the top 20. TCU's best win to this point is over a team that may be lucky to finish 4-4 in the Big 12 and not receive any votes.

TCU and Boise St have played two of the same teams and both margins of victory are a push. So it comes down to the Air Force. They are a good team, not a "very solid" team. Sometimes the margin of victory can cloud what really happened, particularly against teams that they are solidly better than. By the way, TCU will most deservedly jump over Boise St if they beat Utah in a couple of weeks. However, if Boise St beats Nevada and Hawaii and goes undefeated, they will be right back even with TCU.

Or kick Boise St and TCU into the FCS. I'm more worried that TCU and Boise St in the national championship would end Boise St and TCU playing for the national championship ever again. I don't think a playoff is coming anytime soon, no matter what happens.
