  • Saturday Football Observations

The Wisconsin drive to win the game was about as good as you'll ever see, on the road, from behind, to win the game against a really good team.

Oklahoma State's defense is about as bad as a defense can be. They are TERRIBLE, and I can't figure out why....they have plenty of athletes.

Taylor Martinez is as quick as any football player I've ever seen, ever.

The Nebraska player that knocked out the OSU player in the first half on that cheap shot should be kicked off the team. He should be suspended for the hit, he should be kicked off the team for laughing it up on the sidelines while the kid layed motionless on the turf. Classless from a usually classy program.

The QB for Auburn is good and will win the Heisman. I don't know his name, but fortunately I don't have a vote (this year) either.

As good as Martinez is, I think RG3 is the best QB in the Big 12 and he has a LOT less to work with than Taylor does.

Texas is a huge disapppointment and I wonder how bad it will get for them this year?

Navy has better athletes than Notre Dame. Let that sink in for a minute. NAVY has better athletes than Notre Dame. Good thing the Irish scheduled Western Michigan and are catching BYU in a down year, or OUCH.

These shots to the head are becoming an epidemic around the game, and I have no idea how they are going to fix it. I've seen at least 4 brutal cheap shots intended to dislodge the skull from the rest of the body just today. With players so athletic, and equipment so good, and the desire to punish the other guy at an uber level, somebody is going to get killed. This isn't going to end well I think.

I am pretty sure Kendall Wright made the correct decision to play football, but I would have enjoyed seeing what that kind of athlete could do for WSU.

Oklahoma will probably lose tonight, but certainly will lose sometime. The Big 12 just isn't very good this year. Kansas is horrible. I have no clue how they beat Georgia Tech. They won't win again this year. I only wish that ass, Lou Perkins, was around to take the blame for it, but as usual he ran away like the chickenshat coward that he is. His next gig should be as Vivian Schiller's assistant at NPR, surrounded by other cowards.

Dont think you can forget, Baylor is a factor in the Big 12 for the first time since they joined the league
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

If Michigan State can beat Iowa in Iowa City next weekend (and I don't think they will but) they probably will go undefeated in the regular season.

What do you do if the only 3 unbeaten teams are Michigan State, Boise State and TCU?

TCU @ Utah might be a semifinal for the National Championship. TCU DESTROYED a decent Baylor team. Utah dismantled Iowa State on the road....the same ISU that beat Texas in Austin today. Utah still has a chance to impress when they play ND on NBC.

Utah beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl when given a chance.

I hope one of the those 3 get a shot at it. They deserve it in my opinion.

Iowa should've at least had a shot to win that game but Iowa's coach pulled a Les Miles.

For as good as the Wisconsin drive was, the clock management by Iowa on the series to end the game was LSU like.

I know you didn't say this because you're a Quacker fan (I hope), but I hope they do lose because they shouldn't be #2 currently.

Preseason, Oregon was ranked #11 in both polls and Boise St. #3/#5. What has Oregon done to jump frog the Broncos? NOTHING!!

They've beat ONE team with a winning record, Stanford, who was ranked #9 at the time, but preseason was #27/#32. The combined record of Oregon's opponents is 17-32.

Boise St has beaten 2 teams that were ranked at the time, including Va Tech in the first game who was ranked #10/#6.

OU, who won't be ahead of them after tonight, didn't deserve to be ahead of them either. They beat a weak Utah St by 7 and Cincy by 2 who also has a losing record. Air Force by 3 and the Texas win isn't looking so good now either.

By the way, TCU beat Air Force tonight by 31 and OU shouldn't have passed them either.

Missouri looks like a contender for the big 12 but the NC as well. Also, look for Auburn to be on top of the Bcs rankings next week. They are my favorite for the title so far.

As far as the whole TCU/Boise thing goes, TCU deserves to be where they are because they actually prove themselves against solid competition like Air Force. Boise St. not so much, move to a better conference.

I know a lot of Boise haters complain about using the "Lifetime Achievement" poll award, but I think in college football you HAVE to use it. Boise proves they can compete with anyone year after year.

It needs to be "what have you done for me lately?" To answer that, not too much. They come into the season with a top ten ranking and they are going to stay there, that's almost a guarantee. Maybe some BCS teams should move to a crappy conference and run the table, so they can get into a BCS bowl.

I know its hard for them to schedule good competition because no one wants to play them. That should make it a top priority for them to move to the Mountain West or somewhere else that is half-way competitive.
