You're talking about 2-game leads 3 games into the season. You're getting WAY too ahead of yourself.

As SB said, just enjoy the ride.
Being able to talk about having a two game lead is enjoying the ride! I have no problem with anyone being delighted to be able to say those words after the recent bad seasons. Doesn't mean squat yet in a sixteen game season but I begrudge no Chief fan who feels some enjoyment at being able to open a newspaper and see the Chiefs listed in first place with every one else in the division two game back.
It feels kind of good. It actually nice to look forward to Sunday.

10-6 should win the AFC Worst. So realistically, if the Chiefs go 7-6 (not a given by any stretch, but also not a long shot) from here on out, I expect them to be right there.

I'd just like them to get to .500. I'm still not sure they'll be able to finish the season any better than that.

Without "getting too far ahead of myself" the Chiefs have 6 home games remaining that are each winnable. Even if they drop one, they'd still finish no worse than .500. Then the roadies against Oak, Den, Sea, and Stl provide an opportunity for more wins.

At this point, being 3-0, and completely taking it SF yesterday (not just winning with smoke and mirrors) that I'm expecting them to compete for a playoff birth.

Who was the player on SF that guaranteed the win?

I admit yesterday was promising. I'm just not getting excited until I see them play like that again. I have faith in the D and STs to do what they can to win. I want to know this was more than some fluke before I get too excited.

Vernon Davis, who was held to 3 catches for 22 yards.

SF fired offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye (I would have though people would have learned when he was in KC).

The Chiefs corner play was really good. They were going after Flowers and he won the battles. Hali pass rush is something they need to continue. He had 2 sacks and 3 QB hits.

Chiefs home page credits Hali with 3 sacks.

In my opinion Braden Flowers is having a Pro Bowl year so far, and the biggest surprise on defense is the play of Shaun Smith.

The Chiefs definitely have one thing going for them.. and that is the weak division they are in. There's too much parity in the NFL to think the Chiefs are gonna go unbeaten at Arrowhead. 7-6 is certainly possible but I'm with Sub and would rather err on the side of caution until I see a little bit more.

It was a solid win but maybe SF isn't as good as people thought they were gonna be.. (now 0-3)..

It's hard to say whether SF is going to be any good or not. They got blown out by Seattle, but played New Orleans close.

I'd still like to see our WRs do more. Most everything on offense was again done by the RBs. I understand that's our strength, but outside of Bowe being as open as imaginable on the flea flicker, we're not getting much from the WRs or downfield passing. Most the damage was done on screens. At some point defenses are just going to key on that because the Chiefs haven't showed anything else. When that happens, can they adjust?

The D looks good. I like the way they're playing. Much more intensity than I've seen in recent memory and guys are flying all over the place.

Our two return guys have explosive capabilities. It's fun to watch.

Offense still concerns me. Cassel still concerns me. If he can be Dilfer like and just not screw up and allow the defense to win games great! Or if he can just make smart enough decisions to give our RBs a chance to do some damage we can be ok. But I've pretty much decided he isn't the QB to lead a team to victory. To go make plays and win a game. If he's Dilfer 2.0 I can maybe handle it.

I still think it is too early to make that determination about Cassel (too early to determine anything in the positive either). Through his first two seasons of starting, Cassel has put up better numbers than Drew Brees did in his first two years of starting. Over those two years the Chargers went 12-20 and Brees threw 31 interceptions to only 28 touchdowns. His performance was bad enough for the team to use a #1 pick to acquire another QB. Clearly different circumstances, since Brees became a starter in his second year in the league, but the point is that it can take several seasons of starting (which can't be replicated by being on the bench) for a QB to show what they are capable of, especially when placed on a team lacking talent around them.
