  • Cards or Rockies Anyone?

Anyone interested in discussing the Cardinals or Rockies? Not being a fair-weather fan here, as I followed the Cardinals through their ups and downs for 50+ years. I just cannot get into the Royals anymore. One winning season in the last 15, going on 16, just doesn't cut it. Good grief, Ankiel was batting clean-up today.

I haven't followed the Rockies that much, but went to a Rockies / Cards game in Denver late last year and was impressed by their fans and stadium. So I could learn.

I followed the Cardinals from 04 to 06. Back then I became a Rolen fan.
Pujols - Holliday combination should be good.

Don`t know much about the Rockies. Jeff Francis on DL is an issue.

I am a Cardinals fan and will probably buy the cable tv package.

I was fortunate enough to get pics last year of me with Bob Gibson, Red Schoendienst and Lou Brock.

I will probably make 2,3 home games this year.

Last year, when I was chatting with Bob Gibson, I asked him where he lived and he said Omaha, and I said "of course, you went to to Creighton."

I said, "Well, I love the Cardinals, but I am a Wichita State fan." H"e immiedately started booing, though he did so politely.

      Good sports fan, obviously.

I love watching the Rockies home games on TV b/c their mascot stands behind the plate a lot and is hilarious (at least to me).

I don't know how you could follow the Royals, they haven't even won a world series ;) (Cardinals fan here)

At that time, I was a Card fan first, but also liked and followed the Royals. When both teams made it to the Series, I thought I couldn't lose. I'd be happy with which ever team won. As it turned out, I found that I didn't really like the Royals anywhere close to the Cards. The way the it went down was very hard to swallow.

ABC - What did you think of the new contract R. Franklin got late last year? Looks like he started this year just like he finished it last year after the signing.

Been A Rocks fan since 93 (before that was a Dodgers), just something about the AL just doesn't sit well with me.

Rocks will be in some trouble with Francis on the DL and Street still nursing his shoulder too. I do think that the starting rotation may be able to overcome Francis as it appears to be a deep group of pitchers.

I need to get up to Wrigley this year in order to remember why I'm a Cubbie fan.

newshock1234 - Nope. Just got tired of reading the Royals threads and nothing about the Cards.

I was raised in central Missouri and started going to see the Cards as a kid in the 50's at Sportmans Park. I've followed them closely ever since. I had an uncle that lived in KC and I did see the A's at Municipal Stadium once. What a dump! That was back when the A's were the unofficial farm club of the Yankees.

I actually follow a number of different teams, some more than others. The Royals are still a part of this group. I still go to a game once in a great while. There's just not much to really talk about except Greinke every 5th day.

Please let me know how this makes me a bandwagoner? Sorry your Royals aren't doing well. I really wish they could get it turned around. The Cards have had their dry periods as well, but I could still tell you their lineup and read about them daily in the paper when I couldn't listen to games. I used to listen to them on radio when an Ark City? station carried them. I was not happy when I found out KGSO was going to carry Cub games (except when they play the Cards).

KGSO adding Cubs for 1 year as an experiment??? Probably get more listeners if they air Cardinals.

Nice to see the Rockies/Cardinals thread get more activity than the Royals thread. :good:

Article says KGSO reached out to the Cardinals but they didnt want to get into Royals territory.

Plus it doesn`t say how long the affiliation will last. Could get the Rockies next year.

what about the Texas Rangers, they are the same distance as the Cardinals, and closer to Wichita than Denver.
