  • They live a rough life

Dana O'Neil spent two days on the road with top-ranked Kansas as it prepared to face Temple. What she found was a loose, wise-cracking group that doesn't appear to be cracking under the pressure of No. 1.

For a sec I thought this might be about Baylor...then I remembered no one cares about Baylor...

I thought the article was pretty good. What I would like to know is how does this differ from what our players at WSU experience. In the last few years does anyone know our travel routine. How does it compare to this article. I know our guys fly charter everwhere they go but what about the rest of it? I would assume everything is comparable.

"Hinson calls himself the human piñata. And he's right. Everyone takes a whack at him."

That's really sad. My how far he has fallen.

"We're pretty spoiled," senior guard Sherron Collins says with a smile. "Everything is planned for us."

Darrell Arthur then added, "Yeah, like my High School diploma -Rock Chalk!"

Not a bad rebound for Hinson, IMO. Essentially a DOBO for a consistently elite program, working for a close friend, without the pressures of being a head coach. I'll bet he makes a decent living, too.

There are others who are A LOT worse off. I'll bet he provides some comic relief around the program, too.

They seem to have left out the part where Barry takes the players' paychecks to the bank to cash them. Surely it was just an oversight.

Comparable to a degree, but I'd bet KU's jet is bigger and more plush, the hotels are nicer, the buses are bigger, and the food is a notch better. KU and other elite programs have unlimited funds for basketball; WSU does not.

I dont believe everything KU has is much better than WSU. I believe that comment was way off base. I think
                WSU travels pretty good

From experience, it's very comparable to the travel luxuries WSU enjoys. The jets aren't all first-class but still, it's a private jet that we charter so really, not THAT much of a huge difference. And another thing to take into consideration is the "cities" that we play in during conference play. We do stay in the nicest hotels they have to offer, which is not very much. If we were playing in places like Austin, Norman, Columbia, and other places that have the quality hotels that KU is staying in, we'd be staying in the same places. When we're in out of conference play, when we play in the likes of the Kansas City area, even Cleveland, we'll stay in hotels fairly comparable.

KU's funds are in fact very limited. They are at quite a disadvantage compared to several other Big 12 schools in regards to budgeting. With self pulling down 3 million a year and football probably barely in the black, they wipe their little cheating tushies with the same grade of toilet paper as the Shockers.

I don't think I heard you correctly. Did you say that Columbia had quality hotels?

Compared to Peoria or Terre Haute, or other places in the Valley, yes Columbia would have quality, or at least better quality, hotels.
