    Who's afraid of global warming?
Back in the 1970s we were told that overpopulation and global cooling were going to destroy the world. Turns out they haven’t. Population growth has slowed way down almost everywhere and the problem, we’re told now, by governmental, universal, media and corporate elites, is global warming or, rather, man-made global warming. But despite the cries from the likes of Al Gore that all debate about whether global warming is occurring and will occur—not a very scientific attitude is it?—some dissenting and persuasive voices are being heard. Two examples: this piece by Christopher Booker in the Sunday Telegraph and this interview of Australian geologist Ian Plimer in the Spectator. Plimer is the author of Heaven and Earth: Global Warming, the Missing Science, and has been an important part of the political debate in Australia where, Booker reports, Labour Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s global warming bill seems about to be rejected by the Senate.

      Discussing Global Warming

The Biggest Corporate Welfare Program in History
Give President Obama credit for at least being close to honest about wanting to tax energy. His plan to auction off allowances for the use of fossil fuels is essentially an energy tax where nobody knows the tax rate in advance. Companies bid against each other at a government-run auction, and the company that loses the auction gets shut down by the EPA'so it's high stakes, but at least it's transparent and above board, and anybody can bid at the auction.

Unfortunately, this idea went from bad to worse in the House. Instead of auctioning the permits, almost all of them will be given away based on political considerations -- that's how they got enough votes to squeak the bill through on a 219-212 vote.

Sarah Palin Calls Obama Cap-and-Trade Plan a Threat
The plan, Palin writes, is "an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage."

She adds: "In addition to immediately increasing unemployment in the energy sector, even more American jobs will be threatened by the rising cost of doing business under the cap-and-tax plan."

'Green energy' deal finds few takers in liberal Austin, TX
For the past decade, Austin's ambition to become the world's clean-energy capital has been best exemplified by one effort: GreenChoice, a program that sells electricity generated entirely from renewable sources such as wind.

Now the nationally renowned program is struggling to find buyers - the latest allotment is 99 percent unsold after seven months on the market - and Austin Energy is looking for ways to bring down the rising costs.
Will Dems allow Goldman to manipulate a cap-and-trade market?
Goldman Sachs, the Wall Street leviathan that is heavily invested in the cap-and-trade carbon market scam, has admitted it has developed and used software that can manipulate such financial markets.

The revelation came during proceedings in a legal case with enough plot twists to make even John Grisham proud; it was made, not by Goldman, but by an assistant U.S. Attorney.

Looks like the science of global warming isn't 'settled' at all
At a time when the US is contemplating ruining our economy to save the planet from overheating, scientific inquiry into climate change continues - even as politicians tell us the issue is "settled" and all scientists agree we are headed for disaster.

That's what's great about science. When compelling proof emerges to contradict a theory - even one as politically and economically driven as global warming - good scientists pause and recalculate. The news that a front line science publication, Nature Geoscience, has published a public debunking of climate models that posit human activity as the main cause of global warming, will not alter the debate right away. But it certainly gives a foot in the door to skeptics and may be a tipping point that would entail a vigorous re-examination of the evidence.

Democratic Governors Say Cap-and-Trade Will Create Jobs
Three Democratic governors told a Senate panel Tuesday that efforts to curb global warming and spur the development of cleaner sources of energy have created jobs and new businesses in their states, a trend that could expand nationwide if Congress passes federal legislation.

All three states — New Jersey, Colorado, and Washington — have adopted measures to achieve reductions in the gases blamed for global warming and standards requiring a certain percentage of electricity from renewable sources.

But this view was not shared by all state leaders testifying Tuesday before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, including North Dakota's Republican governor and a Democratic state legislator from Arkansas, highlighting regional differences in addressing climate change.
Studies have shown it'll create fewer jobs than it kills.

Climate Revolt: World's Largest Science Group 'Startled' By Outpouring of Scientists Rejecting Man-Made Climate Fears! Clamor for Editor to Be Removed!
An outpouring of skeptical scientists who are members of the American Chemical Society (ACS) are revolting against the group's editor-in-chief -- with some demanding he be removed -- after an editorial appeared claiming “the science of anthropogenic climate change is becoming increasingly well established.”

The editorial claimed the "consensus" view was growing "increasingly difficult to challenge, despite the efforts of diehard climate-change deniers.” The editor now admits he is "startled" by the negative reaction from the group's scientific members. The American Chemical Society bills itself as the "world's largest scientific society."

Climate Bill to Raise Energy Costs, Kill Jobs: Fed Study
Despite President Obama's prediction that it would create new jobs, the climate change bill passed by the House will mean fewer jobs by 2030 than if Congress did nothing at all, according to the first comprehensive study of the measure by the federal government.
