Dems' Stimulus Bill Has Hidden Left Agenda

You've been hearing this for a while from other sources but this is the first time I've been able to sit down and read about it. I don't know all the fine details but I thought this bill was a bad idea before all this stuff came out.

First off these things arent hidden. Secondly I read the list and have very little problem with these items and third one must wonder about a site who finds it worthwhile to take a vote on wanting to know if an American citizen wants their President to succeed.

Please dont bring up Bush, after 9/11 every American was behind Bush. Only after blatant abuses of the office did popular opinion change. 8)

It seems odd to complain about increased funding for education, medicaid, and public services. Why not invest the public's money in the public? Or should we just hand another 30 billion to the CEO's of our countries fine industries? I hear they spent that wisely.

It seems odd to complain about increased funding for education, medicaid, and public services. Why not invest the public's money in the public? Or should we just hand another 30 billion to the CEO's of our countries fine industries? I hear they spent that wisely.

It's not the "public's" money. It's the money of private and corporate citizens being taken for the public interest. As a member of the pubic, I have no interest in my money being funnelled iinto inefficient, unconstitutional programs that are doomed to ultimately cripple our country.

And I have interest in the money going to save mismanaged business.

Give it back to those who had it taken in the first place.

Furthermore, I'm feeling guilty for leaning towards our small town asking the feds for assistance (probably only a few hundred grand) dealing with a water quality problem that is only a problem because the feds (EPA) arbitrarily lowered the allowed amount of a substance in drinking water.

Yet Joplin, MO. wants $8mil for parking garages.

Our country is royally screwed up. And it isn't likely to change, IMO, until all three branches of the federal goverment are significantly overhauled.

The stimulus plan is the centerpiece of Mr. Obama’s early agenda, and it also seeks to make good on some of his signature campaign promises, including an income tax cut for most Americans earning less than $200,000 a year. Under the plan, individuals would receive up to $500 and families up to $1,000 through a cut in payroll taxes on the first $8,100 in income. The money would be delivered through paychecks as a reduction in Social Security withholdings, and is intended to bolster consumer spending by giving a small lift to household pocketbooks.

Why feel guilty, would the funds improve the quality of life where you live? Isnt that one of the roles of a civil gov.? I pay taxes Royal and can only speak for myself, I think it might be money well spent. 8)

Unless you are familiar with our situation, then perhaps you shouldn't comment.

The EPA (by way of KDHE since they are the state hit-men for the EPA) lowered the acceptible amount of a particular mineral and would not explain why, even after being sued.

kc, the feds should not be in the business of telling states what to do. It should be left up to the states. I feel guilty because I don't believe in federal regulations or earmarks. But I'm torn in this case because of the unfunded mandate handed down by the EPA.

No one has explained how this is "hidden".... It's a shame how everyone's afraid of change in conservative Wichita, you're automatically considered "Stupid" if you don't "go with the flow" and vote against change. We know the majority of the Obama haters are the very same people who voted against at least one if not all of the following...the arena, against improving out schools and against the downtown casino. Everyone keeps digging for their posts on Shockernet. This might be a surprise to you, it's not to me, but most of you didn't vote for Obama, therefore you're not going to agree with a lot of his decisions. Do we really need cry baby posts about every single desicion?
