    Barry is not unlike the disrespectful term "W" used by libs to minimalize the position of ones office. To make it simple for you "messiah" voters it is the nickname of your "jug-eared" leader. For those of you saying that layoffs show my lack of compassion for my fellow man...stick it....my job is to try and make a profit. That helps me to take care of my family and my productive employees. The more we earn, the more we share. When government punishes success as "Barry" has indicated is his desire, we are forced to look after our own first. Business investors do not like uncertainty, we are in an uncertain time. We have had politicians force banks to make loans that were risky, we had gov't agencies and their administrators profiting greatly from this, we had Chuck Schumer cause a run on the IndyMac Bank in California as a political ploy and it has all spiraled out of control. We have Rahm Emmanuel and "Barry" scaring everyone further because they see a political opportunity to further a socialist agenda that way. I believe it was Ronald Reagan who once said..."The most terrible words in the English language are...I am from the government and I'm here to help you." I don't hate any of you that disagree with me, If I have any enemies I don't know them and I'm to old to start making them on purpose now. I have on purpose not stated my political opinions until recently when an associate of mine interpreted my silence as tacit approval. I decided that if those who hold the opposite view can say what they want and I am supposed to hear it...I am going to say what is on my mind as well. Marty, Spangler, KC, and the rest of you that disagree with me, I am not your enemy and I wish each of you and yours well. IMHO I believe that it is in the best interest of the good ole USA for Obama's policies to fail to be implemented.

        I guess I didn't screw the quote up to badly. Thanks for the help. I wish Reagan was available now to articulate a message and a vision for the way I feel. The optimism and wisdom of a man the left has tried to demonize through the years is truly inspiring.

          I agree. That's one reason I was a big Fred Thompson supporter. I felt he was along the same lines as Reagan in many ways. There are a handful who also share the Reagan Inspiration. Sadly, few are in a position of power.

                If the Feds start out taking 35%, it is very easy to get way over 50% or more, of your income going out of your hands. That is just nuts.
                35% is the top marginal tax rate. A person's overall (or average) tax rate would never reach 35% because some of her/his income would be taxed at lower rates. Unless you are "Married filing separately", only the portion of your taxable income (after deductions) over $357,700 would be taxed at 35%. http://www.dinkytown.net/java/TaxMargin.html I don't know about you but the portion of my income over $357,700 is rather small. :D

                    I didn't reply about FDR because he was in office for 13 or so years and he tried to do lots of things. If you wish to narrow down your focus and mention the things FDR did to which you object, then perhaps we can have a discussion. You might even find that I agree with some of your points. Who knows? If this discussion is personal for you, then there is no reason to continue.

                        Perhaps the people who cannot afford the $40-50 for a DTV switch box or the $20ish for the most basic cable package should stop watching television and either start applying for a second job, or learn to enjoy the wonderful world of talk radio. Even joining the local library's book club would be a fantastic idea.

                            Even in that case she's had plenty of time and opportunity to get things taken care of. It's not like they haven't been pounding the turnover down our throat for the past year or so. All that little old lady would have to have done is set aside $5 a month or so and she'd be fine. Or she could have gotten the vouchers or whatever they've been talking about for just as long. I have little sympathy for those who wait til the last minute to do anything or nothing at all when it was announced quite a while ago and has been broadcast numerous times every day since.

                                If you're going to be wasteful (and stupid imho) let's just cut out the middle man ok?

                                Instead of giving money to the Commerce Dept to give out more vouchers that we have to advertise for, and then have someone order the voucher, mail it, use it, redeem it and when all is said and done have a CRAPPY 15 year old TV that is going to go out anyway and make the box obsolete, here is my idea.

                                No more ads, or expenses with ads.

                                No more vouchers, or people to print, mail, redeem or send in to redeem with the govt.

                                I'll set up an 800# that can be distributed through the FCC to every broadcast station and police, fire and utility and 911 call center in the country.

                                Anyone that calls any of these numbers about their over the air signal going out on transition day can be forwarded to my 800#. My guess is that I can troubleshoot 95% of these calls.

                                The government can advance me $1,000,000 for expenses. Anyone that calls me gets 1 new digital tv shipped to them, on the house. If I need more, I'll ask. I'll take $50,000 for having to deal with yeahoosians. I'll keep whatever is left over. If I need more than that, I keep nothing.

                                They will be delivered by local government workers (I promise you I can find some dead time there somewhere) or local charities (meals on wheels for example) and verified to have replaced a non working analog set as the only working tv. I am promised help from these entities where needed.

                                Any fraud will be dealt with severly, punishable by 100 hours of community work or an immediate garnishment of federal funds equal to 10 times the amount of the purchase price. This penalty will be administered without due process as a condition of accepting a free television.

                                After 1 year I will cease operations. I will promise you that I will field less than 5000 legitimate calls.
