According to Clark Hunt, they are looking outside the organization for someone to get away from the same old ideas.

I hope they get someone who can draft well. I am tired of these first round picks that flop -- Trezelle Jenkins, Ryan Sims, etc.
Tony Gonzalez, Will Shields, Brandon Albert, Derrick Thomas, Dale Carter, John Tait, Larry Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Dwayne Bowe. And even Jerome Woods and Tamba Hali haven't been horrible and are far from flops. Sly Morris got injured. And I can't remember if Neil Smith was drafted under Carl or not. Honestly, if 88 was the first year, and we've had three years without a first round pick, it hasn't really been THAT bad. You can't hit a HR with every pick, but they've done fairly well there. It's the later picks that they've had less success with really.

1988--Neil Smith, DE -- Great pick
      1989--Derrick Thomas, LB-- Great pick
1990--Percy Snow, LB --Career-ending injury on Moped
      1991--Harvey Williams, RB--dud
1992--Dale Carter, CB -- Started out good, trouble outside of football
      1993--No pick (Joe Montana acquired)
1994--Greg Hill, RB -- NOT the "Real Deal" as Marty proclaimed
      1995--Trezelle Jenkins, OL -- BUST
1996--Jerome Woods, SS -- Started out good, but faded
1997--Tony Gonzalez, TE -- no explanation needed -- HOF
      1998--Victor Riley, OL -- BUST
1999--John Tait, OL -- great lineman, but Carl got into shouting match with his agent, almost didn't get him signed. Then lost him to Chicago when contract was up.
      2000--Sylvester Morris, WR--injured, didn't pan out
      2001--No pick (acquired Trent Green)
      2002--Ryan Sims, DT -- BUST
2003--Larry Johnson, RB -- 2 good years, the rest debatable
      2004--No pick
2005--Derrick Johnson, LB--decent LB, seems to disappear many games
2006--Tamba Hali, DE -- very pedestrian without Jared Allen on other side
2007--Dwayne Bowe, WR -- good pick
2008--Glen Dorsey, DT -- not good so far
Brandon Albert, OL -- good pick so far

Neil Smith was already drafted, because Carl was hired in the middle of the 88 season

Carl was a GREAT company man. He made the owners a whole pile of money while serving up an ALMOST competitive product. Each year there was enough of a sniff at success that the fans kept coming back until the last few years when it all caught up to him. What was it? One playoff victory in 20 years. Yeah thats a great legacy. I'm glad he's gone.

It's a very good thing. Now I can root for the chiefs again.

Just trying to stimulate the minds of people here like you. :D Never said I don`t like KC. $80 a ticket & $35 to park isn`t affordable for me. Neither is driving or flying to Denver for a Broncos game.

I`m a fan of a team that I`ve never seen play.

Chris Mortenson and John Clayton were both on the radio today, and they both said that this is easily a top 10 job in the NFL.

Your donkey avatar indicates you don't like KC, so anything you say will probably be taken the wrong way as a threat or putdown.

                      BTW parking is "only" $22.

Carl's performance as a GM fell of the cliff the moment Marty left town.

As far as Marty returning, don't count on it. Word is that Clark Hunt is committed to the youth movement, and Marty hates playing young players. Look for a young up and comer from an organization like Indianaopolis, New England or Pittsburgh. Think the Dayton Moore of the NFL as GM.

As far as a coach, no telling at this point.
