It`s a bad move unless Hunt has someone in mind to be GM. Problem is their isn`t anyone beating the door down to come to KC.

No matter what, the next couple years will essentially be rebuilding.

If the Chiefs are going to ever compete, the secret is to find a QB & build your offense around him. Carl`s draft picks would`ve meant more crappy players & never a good young QB.

thanks for proving my points, since your a bronco fan, and i disagree that this is a bad job, we got a crap load of cap space, some decent young players to work with, the renovations to arrowhead, and we have the fan support. Now if you are a up and coming looking to become a GM, who would you rather go to KC or Detroit. That answer easy.

Not a chiefs fan, but hearing Kevin Keitzman (sp) go Howard Dean on the radio today was good for me. Good for a laugh that is. :yahoo:

You guys should be where I am...about 15 minutes (30 today) from "ground zero" so to speak. When the news broke you woulda thought you were in Baghdad when news of Saddam's capture broke...people were high-fiving, etc...I fully expected to walk outside the office to hear/see guns being fired in the air!

I'm gonna hold out on judgement until I hear what the future will look like in the front office. Carl took a lot of blame no matter if he deserved it or not and never got any credit for the good. I admit I felt it was probably time to look elsewhere, but things could get worse with the wrong hire.

True, but the past few years have been nothing but regression for the organization. They have continually gotten worse. Maybe this is the job tht Cowher would want. And if he is the replacement, then there would be a coaching change to go with it. You can't do what the Chiefs have done the past 2 years and expect much worse (unless you're the Lions).

                      This is my dream:

                      Marty Schottenheimer -- General Manager
                      Bill Cowher -- Head Coach

Super Bowl in 2-3 years. Enough said.

I don't get this, "there isn't anyone beating the door down to come to KC." ?!?? Do you mean no one beating the door down while the position was NOT available? Or no one is beating the door down in the 8 hours since the news became public and you posted this? Come on, I know you don't like KC but you're going out on a limb there. I would say with KC's history and backing that's a pretty good job and I don't think they'll have people turning them down because its a bad situation. As newshock said, they have a good young nucleus, tons of cap room, and while 2-12 could easily be 6-6 with a play or two in each game.

Even with the uncertainty I have to say its a good move. The team was not headed in the right direction and while personnel/drafting has gotten better the last couple years it was time for a change. I don't think any GM keeps their job with 15 years no playoffs and counting.

As for the next couple years being rebuiding, yes most likely they will be, but they would have been w/Carl or w/o so what difference does that make? Fortunately KC plays in the worst division in football so who know, 8-8 next year may contend for the division!

They'll probably promote from within and they'll have the same retread philosophy.

According to Clark Hunt, they are looking outside the organization for someone to get away from the same old ideas.

I hope they get someone who can draft well. I am tired of these first round picks that flop -- Trezelle Jenkins, Ryan Sims, etc.
