Some of us have made that decision, yet still have smoke somewhat forced upon us. Are you willing to take me in from my family? Are you willing to tell all the smokers in front of Lindquist, Jabara, Elliot, and the RSC to bugger off?

Not everybody can avoid smokers 100% of the time the way you would like us to.
Not only in front of those buildings, but it seems like everytime I walk into the Heskett Center of all places...most of the time people in workout clothes, don't ask me, I've been trying to figure out their logic since I started coming to WSU...are always blowing smoke in the general direction of passersby. It just doesn't make sense to me that I have to hold my breath to keep from breathing in smoke when I walk into the building that people are supposed to be getting healthier.

In addition, the raising of the speed limit hasn't led to more accidents. It's just lead to more gas consumption. Also, you can just as easily die in an auto accident going 55, 45, 35 mph as you are going 70..

You keep referring to the same point over and over. You keep ignoring my response. Why can't smokers keep their habits to themselves? Why do I have to be involved with it?

Keep in mind when you argue with a smoker about smoking, you arguing with a drug addict. It is impossible for them to be rational about their drug of choice.

Seems like the only smoke-free buildings are the engineering buildings. Also, we shouldn't forget Ahblah. They have their share of smokers too.

It is a fact that you will indeed get old. You can't stop that.

Maybe you should remind some of your student friends to show up to games and enjoy their 4 years of fun.

I wish that smokers would keep their habit to themselves, I just don't want government to coerice them to do so - and I repeat, you do. You want government to make your life more convenient; so you won't have to avoid smokers.

Where's your line? Where does it end? Is this the only thing you want government to do for you?

I still haven't read a response why you are not equipped to avoid smoke. Does the smoke sneak up on you ?

A restaurant serving transfat doesn't harm folks ? Do you really believe that?

Lower speed limits don't save lives? Do you really believe that?

And by the way, I don't smoke - so get bent.

So I'm forced to, in essence, become a smoker myself, taking in a lot of its health hazards, because someone can't wait an hour to go outside, or has to puff their smoke rings outside a door? Gimme a break. Don't smoke around people and there is no situation in the first place.

Like I said, when the health of me and others becomes at-risk, then I need all the help I can get. If smokers can't keep their nasty-ass residue to themselves, then yes I feel the need for some kind of intervention (hence the whole concept of having laws to protecting ourselves)..

I still have failed to get a response from you on .. why can't a smoker enjoy killing himself alone? Why does he have to involve others? Smoke at home or in an isolated other and there is no problem.

You failed to see the point Sub was making. Someone eating a loaded cheeseburger doesn't affect the health of other patrons at a restaurant. Lighting a cigarette and smoking does however affect the health of others.

I see and hear about fatal accidents every single day in this country. The majority of them occur on city streets where the vehicles are traveling no faster than 40 mph. Should we lower the speed limits to 20mph to guarantee no deaths? The speed is not what's killing people. It's the moronic out-of-control drivers behind the wheel, taking advantage of the speed that's killing people.

                      • Why can't you avoid the smoke? Because it is too inconvenient? Why do you want government to regulate so much behaviour? Are you so obese that you can't walk around people who are smoking?

Higher speed limits cause more deaths than lower speed limits; I am sure you know that but you are too stubborn to admit it. Why aren't speed limits within city limts 50 mph?

When will you start your campaigning for lower speed limits?

I like going to smoke free places - I just want to make that decision myself. You want government to make that decision for you.

Smoke is visible and avoidable - transfat is not. Why aren't you against transfat?

                        • I've answered and responded to each and every one of your points. You continue to ignore mine and everyone else's points and keep going back to the same mundane argument which, quite frankly, has gotten destroyed.

The ignorant and repetitive nature of your posts suggest you may have lost this one.

                              Nice input Smokey.

I don't think I've ignored anyone, nor have I been repetitive nature. Have my general ideas been the same? Absolutely.

It just gets boring having a discussion and then the opponent can't fight anymore and just starts fading away..

But again, thanks for your input. Looks like you've accepted defeat as well..

Many times smoke is unavoidable when I am trying to walk into work (a local hospital) and there are 2 or 3 smokers surrounding the entrance -- and right beside them is a big fat "No Smoking" sign. Should I stop, drop, & roll through the door?
