Your morals are yours to practice as you wish, just don't try to force them on others.

And please, second hand smoke? Have you ever been in LA, Houston or downtown in any large city? You really think that brown heavy haze that covers the city is healthier than second hand smoke? Hahahaha !

Most so called "smoking related" illness is as bogus as AGW in my opinion. All politically motivated. Don't think so? Then why not solve the problem, just make the sale of tobacco illegal. Ah, to much tax revenue for that, I see.

As long as your "outrage" is directed at smokers smoking legally, and not for making the sale of tobacco illegal, you are not outraged, you are just being pompous.

If you don't like second hand smoke then don't go to places that allow smoking.

      It's a free country, last I checked.

It's pretty much a non issue now...Like with many things, when people can't make the right decisions for themselves and the people around them, the government has to step in and make the decision for them.

I like how smokers say, if you don't like the smoke then don't go there... How about this, there's no smoking because the majority of people don't like it and it's harmful, so you find somewhere else to smoke it's a free country!

I own several rentals in town, one of the worst things a tenant can do is smoke in a house. I'd rather they have a pet that pisses all over the carpet than smoke in the house. The last one was a classic, when the people moved the walls were literally black and they didn't think I would notice and this was only after smoking in the house for 1 year. Their comment was "well you're going to repaint it anyway"...yeah, they didn't get their $800 deposit back. The sad part is they have 2 young kids, 8 month old and 3 year old, that should be child abuse.

The original question in this argument was aimed at Koch Arena. Does Koch Arena allow smoking inside the arena?

Are people still inhaling smoking by-products in a place they're not supposed to?

Wow, I see we got the attention of the Shockernet Smoking Society.

Actually, "smoking" was introduced into the discussion via sports bars. And it has less to do with Obama's nasty habit than imposing your morals on others. :D

              Marty,

I completely agree with you about the smoking indoors with kids there. That to me is the second hand smoke people talk about. The very dangerous real prolonged exposure to it is unhealthy. Just a few seconds of it here and there when you are in the bathroom is not that serious IMHO. That is the great thing about message boards. People can state thier opinions. While I was a smoker I never did it in my house or apartment just for the fact that it did color the walls and make the house smell.

I'm not imposing my morals on anyone. I'm not telling people not to smoke. I'm telling them to not poison me or anyone around me with their habit.

                It's pretty simple stuff.

                    I've gathered from this thread:

                    1. My father abused me (had no idea)

2.I'm going to die of cancer any day now

Cool. Put your money where your mouth is. My grandpa was a trucker for Vulcan and died of emphysema that was possibly related the chemicals he spent over two million miles on the road with. Vulcan denied my grandmother any worker's comp when he died because he smoked.

If you believe smoking related illnesses are bunk, put your money where your mouth is and give a donation to my grandmother. Oh, and while you're at it, give her back the third of a lung she lost from smoking-related lung cancer.

Heres one chain smokin conservative who wasnt gonna quit for those pablum puking liberals

In 1996, Downey was diagnosed with lung cancer and had one of his lungs removed. He did a complete about-face on tobacco use, going from a one-time member of the National Smokers Alliance to a staunch anti-smoking activist. He continued to speak against smoking until his death from lung cancer in 2001.[22] After being diagnosed with lung cancer, he said, "I had spawned a generation of kids to think it was cool to smoke a cigarette. Kids walked up to me until a matter of weeks ago, they'd have a cigarette in their hand and they'd say, 'Hey, Mort,' or, 'Hey, Mouth, autograph my cigarette.' And I'd do it."[3] He also blamed tobacco companies for lying to consumers about cigarettes.[3]
