We should have taken care of business in Afghanistan first, which, BTW, we still haven't.

No one and I mean NO ONE was more puzzled and surprised than I was when we went into Iraq.
However, every Democrat (and Republican) politician of note is on record as to believing Saddam posessed WMD's and/or their means of production at that time. To say otherwise is just the usual revisionist rewrite of history politicans and their shills are fond of doing.

I know some of you like to believe Oliver Stone as God.....he's not.
Just because it makes it to the movie theatre doesn't mean it's fact.
I suppose next we'll start quoting Micheal Moore as fact.
I'm going to let a few of you in on a little secret. Hussein DID have wmds.
He did! Get it? Not maybe...he DID. He used them on HIS OWN PEOPLE.
He was required to disarm and destroy them under the watchful eye of others..he refused. Yes, we didn't find them. He may of in fact destroyed them himself before we overran him and his terrorist leadership.
I don't care.....he had them....he would have continued to develop and use them. That scenario is no longer a concern.

Of course if Obama had been in charge, Saddam Hussien would still be in power, he'd have gassed a few dozen thousand (more) Kurds (including a few poor women and children that might have voted for him in Ohio) and there is a small chance that he might have gotten a little frisky and lobbed an improved scud towards Israel which would have launched us directly into WWIII with at least 3 middle eastern countries achieving 10,000 centigrade within 2 seconds when Israel reacted.

Technically they did find some old WMDs. They just weren't as new or stockpiled like some believed.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Is the world a better place without Saddam? Of course.
It is a legitimate debate, that might never be resolved, whether it was worth the blood and treasure the US, Great Britain and others have paid.
The debate whether Ike should have taken Berlin is still being tossed around, 60 years later.

I personally don’t blame those, Democrat and Republican, that voted to give the President the power to invade Iraq the second time around. Both sides made legitimate arguments and despite what we were told – I had serious reservations about the invasion.
That being said, I think that the Monday morning quarterbacking – much of which was entirely predictable is a bit unfair. We should be focusing about how to resolve the current situation.

I know I know, Saddam was a great guy, he never sponsored terrorists, and none of the democRATS thought he had WMD's right?
General Powell may well have offended many in the party, so be it. I look at it this way, IF Obama is elected President, and he’ll be my President. In a society under the rule of law it is part of the "social contract" we make for choosing to live in the United States. IF BO is elected, at least I can hope he'll seek the wise counsel of men such as General Powell, if not General Powell himself thus ensuring that my personal philosophy (Conservative Pragmatic Foreign Policy) is influencing decisions at the highest level.
To understand why this is my philosophy please do several tours with an ODA and/or advisor posting with foreign forces, perhaps then you might at least understand and acknowledge the validity of a pragmatic foreign policy position.

These words from John Wayne came a little earlier than 1960.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!
