  • Powell Endorses Obama for President

Powell, who for many years was considered the most likely candidate to become the first African-American president, said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he was not supporting Obama because of his race. He said he had watched both Obama and his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, for many months and thought “either one of them would be a good president.”

He said he had watched both Obama and his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, for many months and thought “either one of them would be a good president.”
" ... Powell said he was concerned about what he characterized as a recent negative turn of Republican candidate Sen. John McCain's campaign, such as the campaign's attempts to tie Obama to former 1960s radical Bill Ayers.

"I think that's inappropriate. I understand what politics is about -- I know how you can go after one another, and that's good. But I think this goes too far, and I think it has made the McCain campaign look a little narrow. It's not what the American people are looking for," he said."
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Oh why the BO campaign would never throw any negative darts towards McCain. Never, ever.
      Yea, right.
What was the thermal nuclear war they launched against Palin when she was named and provided McCain with a boost in the polls? Everything from her beauty pageant days to her pregnant daughter was dragged through the mud.
And have we forgotten Joe the plumber already?
Everything from his marital status to his tax situation to his license was fired upon. Hell, an NBC truck is still parked on his street. Yet, you won't find any NBC trucks outside of the ACORN HQ or William Ayers palacial estate. 8)

As far as I'm concerned, Powell can now jump off a cliff. Should have known when he didn't step up and be a real black leader that he'd just turn his back on his race like the two reverends (JJ & AS). What a waste!

I respect Powell. He has served his country well. There are not many liberals who sport a Ranger Tab and CIB.

It's to bad that Rumsfeld discarded the Powell Doctrine. The victory in Iraq would have came much quicker if he hadn't.

The movie "W." depicts Powell as the only dissenting voice in the cabinet when they were considering invading Iraq with very little real evidence of weapons of mass destruction. I think history proves that Powell was the last intelligent person in W's original administration and he bailed as soon as he could.

the movie "W" .... now that is a good source of accurate information!
If it were left up to Powell, Saddam's torture and rape rooms would still be open for business.

So did you watch the movie? I didn't think so... Turn Limbaugh off for a second and make a few of your own decisions. Your life will be more fulfilled that way. :)

We shouldn't have went to war with Iraq and that is an indisputable truth. If you want to fight the evils of mankind we should be over in Africa. Saddam is a ***** compared to the monsters over in Africa.
