I've re-typed this about 10 times......this discussion is so whacked.

I discriminate every day. I view the way someone acts, responds, or presents themselves and I make a determination on what I want to do next if it affects me.

If a kid walks into my office asking about a job and he is sloppily dressed, refuses to speak clearly and displays a lack of intelligence then I am absolutely going to discriminate against him and not hire him.

Now, if 50 kids in row come in to my office, all displaying these same traits, and 48 out of the 50 are 6'10" and polka dot does that mean that the next 6'10" polka dotted applicant is a waste of my time? No, but I am certainly beginning to form an opinion based upon culture and their own beliefs of those that think the same way.

By the way, nobody cares if a polka dotted person is "racist". 2 years ago my family was burglarized by a young man that chose our neighborhood because as he described it "all white and I hate white people".

His crime was absolutely a hate crime but you don't hear about that on the news. I guess some how I oppressed his people....maybe I need to give him more of my money that I work for.....someone please tell me why I am the one wrong here. Btw, fwiw, I probably live in as diverse a neighborhood as there is in the city. I can promise you as a white male, I am not in the majority....but what do I know...I've got it all wrong.

This is the about the most ridiculous assertion I have ever read. Conservatism above all else is about individual liberty – that is hardly racist.

Besides, if you want to throw stones, I have spent the last 13 years in NYC and much to my initial surprise (and disgust) I heard more racist statements here than I did in 20 plus years in Wichita. And these people are registered Democrats and self described Liberals (or Progressives – however, they want to be classified). Notwithstanding, I would never go so far as to state that liberalism and racism go hand in hand.

I have an extended family member that married a guy from out east. He worships everything the republican machine feeds him. Rush Limbaugh this, Rush Limbaugh that (a guy that was fired from the NFL for making racist remarks and routinely mocks blacks on his show)... He is a big-time gun collector and thinks that the Iraq invasion was a great idea! He also hates "N..*.

One state has 27.4% of their citizens college educated, the other, 16.9%. One is a blue state, one is a red state. One state is known as an absolute hot-bed for racial activity. Watch any program on white separatist groups and they will continually discuss how they are just trying to "level the playing field" between whites and blacks. They will claim that whites are the ones that are discriminated against now.. Somehow this has been allowed to creep into mainstream discussion and is a rallying cry by those in middle America.

Sure their behavior is racist and they are idiots but its disingenuous to not qualify their behavior based on circumstances. Most of the minorities that are bitter today had a hellacious childhood. If you just put yourself in their shoes you can understand how the hostility can be nurtured. Very few on this forum can relate to being raised in a family where daddy is in prison and momma is.. well worthless. You have to break the cycle.. I think it's being done but slowly.

It's difficult to truly be a racist when you are a minority. Your thoughts and opinions carry little weight.

This reality does not exonerate minorities from functioning in a way that is conducive to their success. Racist, aggressive, rebellious behavior hurts the sender more than the receiver. The opposite is true when you are a majority.

The history between minorities and whites (specifically blacks and whites) in America is riddled with embarrassing behavior that takes a long time to overcome.

I guess one of the few benefits of an Obama presidency is to offer a role model to young black men that they may achieve their dreams and have other choices besides gangs and crime.
