That link didn't work. This one works though.

The FBI is investigating a former Illinois state senator who is a poker-playing buddy of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

      More on the story ...

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

          And who the hell cares.

Are these candidates supposed to hold hands with all their friends 24X7 to keep them from getiing in any type of trouble - no matter how far removed from the candidate and the process they might be?

          Irrelevant non-issue, non-event.

BTW, shocrates, we get that you don't like Obama.

So I take it that it's a common thing for you to have the life and finances of multiple friends searched by various federal agencies.

I guess I need to hang out with a different crowd, 'cause my friends are rather dull in this regard.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

The point is, no candidate can live the lives of all of his acquaintences. All of the guilt by association that goes on during political campaigns, particularly the presidential races, is simply absurd.

Oh, and shocrates, thanks for the highly intellectual response.

Rev Wright, Bill Ayres, Franklin Rains, and now this guy. Since Obama is part of the Chicago political machine, I'm sure I'm missing a few of Hussein's other buddies. Doesn't take a Mensa member to sense a pattern here. He'll abandon the troops in Iraq but give him a good poker game with an unsavory character any day.

The controversial George W. Bush-sponsored poll in South Carolina mentioned John McCain's role in the so-called Keating Five scandal, and McCain says...

Now can you say Charles Keating! 8) [/url]

kc do you see a pattern with McCain surrounding himself with scum the way Barry has? If so lets see the list.

Dont be silly, many people have known and associated with OJ Simpson, that doesnt mean anything at all! I'm not saying McCain is a crook. I am trying in a very subtle way to point out that the logic you are expousing is well nonsense at best. 8)

I'm more concerned about the Times using the word "raid" in this headline. That's a loaded term and way out of line, because both articles assert that only 2 agents were involved, they stayed at the offices (not "home" as the subject of this thread says) for less than two hours, and the office being "raided" cooperated fully.

The Trib's headline is clearly more accurate and the Times clearly has an axe to grind here.

And ... as I recheck, the Times, to their credit, changed the article and published a retraction.
