well i am, sorry, i get excited for every chiefs season, it ranks up there with WSU basketball
Newshock you are evidently a great loyal fan for a very poor organization...(so please don't take this in the wrong way). IMO fans like yourself are holding this organization back by giving the ownership what they want - blind loyalty for a poor product. I'm beginning to get the feeling that ownership is not interested in winning but rather just filling Arrowhead. If King Carl were gone I might feel differently.

For now I choose not to support this failed organization.
    Agreed.

Hey newshock, gimme a score prediction for Sunday.

no thanks to the kid from florida, he is not even the best QB propspect for next year, its Matt Stafford from Georgia.

How many Super Bowl winning teams had to be really bad before they became really good (enough to win the Super Bowl) I would rather suffer through a few years of really bad rather than be the Detroit Lions. There is a team that has always been mediocre. The only problem with being really bad is if you are the Arizona Cardinals and never become really good. New England was really bad for several years and look where they are now. They will begin to drop off this year. Of course I have been thinking that for a few years now. The Chiefs before they became pretty good were pretty bad in the early to mid 1980's. They managed to keep things together pretty well but were bound to drop off. The Colts were bad until recently. Dallas had an 0-15 season before they won their last Super Bowl. I do not see them winning a Super Bowl with the team they have now but they will do fairly well. I figure the 49ers to begin to show some rebound this year.

listened to a radio show the other day and had a discussion about "King" carl and the chiefs. Found out some very interesting things that are quoted directly from the show:

The Chiefs are $37 million under cap this year, but chose not to go after any worthwhile free agents. Now why is this? Because the Chiefs don't mind losing apparently. One good draft class is not going to rebuild a team, it will take several good draft classes. The Chiefs have to go after the important free agents if they want to rebuild sooner than later.

Peterson runs the business side of the organization, which he is absolutely phenonemal at. Well, according to some people. However, I don't think a KSU-ISU game at Arrowhead (which will draw the Chiefs money) is the most important thing Carl could be working on. He is the GM, his duties are not to bring money to the franchise, his duty is to go out and scout and find the best players that will help this team get better. To wrap it up: Financially, Peterson is good for the Chiefs. As far as football management, he is an absolute joke, and has been for several year. The thing is, he used to be a great GM. That is before the Hunt family took over.

I've said this before, and many people agree with me. Lamar and Clark Hunt have ruined Kansas City Chiefs football. When all they care about is making money instead of building a winning franchise, they got serious problems.

I'm not sure what this radio show was, I really don't remember, I was too stunned at this guys comments. I know it was on AM radio. As far as the New England game goes: If Brady plays, I predict a 45-14 butt whooping. If Brady doesn't play, I'll say we keep it close early, but still get blown out. I say 31-20.

I have heard that some NFL Scouts don't even see Tebow as a QB...

I also never understood why Herm Edwards was hired as the Chiefs coach...Didn't the Jets win like 4 games when they lured him away? He hasn't done a whole lot for them either...

shockerfanmas I think the reason they didn't sign any high profile free agents this last off-season was because it wasn't a great year with many marquee players and teams were really stretching and overpaying big time. I'd rather sit out a year than dole out huge money to 2nd tier players just because they're the best "available" at the time. They really wanted to focus on the draft and addressing needs that way. I think they did a good job, and now with the cap room can make a play at some guys next year if they choose. If you "reach" and fail on an expensive free agent the effects are felt for years if it doesn't pan out.

I'm not saying I agree with all of Carl's moves but the draft picks have been better recently and I do think they're building something and on the right track now. I'm excited for Sunday as I am for the start of every Chiefs season. I've been a fan for almost 30 years and always will be.

My best case for this Sunday is KC keeps it within 14 and Brodie finishes the game intact. That would be a victory for me. If they can go 3-3 the first 6 weeks going into the bye, I think they're in good shape and hopefully they continue to improve as the season goes on.

shockerfanmas - That is the most ridiculous comment I've read in a while. The Hunts ruined the Chiefs? You're insane!!!

Why would they want to spend all that money on a poor FA selection? Why would they want to spend a bunch of money to bring in some older guys who don't fit into the plan? I'd rather they didn't and get younger and build up like they appear to be doing. This franchise wasn't going to get better by continuing to try and build a winner through FA.

subgod, you must have missed the first part of my post.. everything I said was what I heard on the radio show the other day. My personal opinion is that it will be another long year for the Chiefs, and I do think that this draft class could really help the team in the long run. I honestly don't know who was on the free agent market that we could have got. I mean with all the talk being about Brett Favre (who would have never come here anyways), who really knew what was available.

Sorry I didn't make myself clearer that what I said was from the radio show. Yes, those people actually did say that Lamar and Clark Hunt have ruined Chiefs football, and they were very worked up about it too. I do feel that Carl could be a much better GM than he is, but if the Hunts want him focusing on the business and financial side of things, then so be it, that's what we have to live with

newshock, I just read your post, everything I said in response to subgod is in response to you too. Everybody knows that without the Hunts, we probably still wouldn't have a football team in Kansas City.

To further comment on what I said, I do see the Chiefs making strides. I think Kolby Smith has the potential to be a solid running back, obviously we have one of, if not the best tight ends in football (Gonzales), and we also have some receivers who are really showing potential. Bowe being the most obvious. The quarterback situation really worries me. Croyle has shown me nothing, Huard is a career back-up, and I'm not sure what to think about Thigpen.

Our real trouble has been defensively lately. It seems that when DT passed away, the defense basically fell apart, and has yet to recover.

                              Brodie needs to calm down.

We couldnt ask for a better situation with Brady out.

So Tom Brady is down and Matt Cassel is in. is he going to take Tom Brady's spot just like Tom took Drew Bledsoe? It would be funny to see it happen
