You mean to tell me that the French actually planned a defense? Did they try to use it at all?

Obama has 2 parts to his energy plan:
      1) inflate your tires
      2) raise taxes on oil companies.
The problem is that if you raise the price of doing business ie taxes, they have to raise the price of their product..... that means higher gas prices.

rjl keeps saying that the demand for oil will go up 30% by 2027 so there is no point in drilling.
Sorry but that makes no since what so ever! If demand increases and you don't increase supply what do you think will happen to the price? Is simple logic that hard to come by around here?
Kick 'em square in the grapes! (that can be very painful)

Yes, the left lacks logic. :(

Yes, the French built a massive fortification defense line on the border between France and Germany (it was called the Maginot Line).

The French put the bulk of their army up north along the border with Belgium. The Germans essentially went between the two (fortifications and french army) by attacking through the Ardennes forest (considered an area you could not attack through at the time) that was largely undefended. The Germans poured through led by Rommel's tank division (later known as the 'Desert Fox') and the route began.

You cant say we learned our lesson from history though. The allies were caught unaware in the same area 5 years later during the famous Battle of the Bulge.

Parts of the Maginot line are now a tourist attraction.

I should have used a smiley. I was in no way serious with those questions as I've always enjoyed history. Almost as much as I enjoy making fun of the French.
