These rankings, like all preseason rankings, will mean garbage in about 6 weeks.

Where's the Prince Purple Machine? :good:

True remember Michigan V App State....preseason polls = worthless.

Actually almost all polls are nothing more than a weekly popularity contest for the BCS

Taking a quick glance at last year's preseason and final polls, they are pretty similar. Obviously a couple of teams were underrated and a few overrated.

Michigan had 9 wins last year and won a bowl game even though they started off poorly.

Football polls are probably less meaningless than other sports polls. lol

Usually that might be true, but not this year. Good lord. Five teams in the top 25, including four in the top fourteen. KU has a much tougher road this season.

                  @ #21 South Florida
                  @ #4 Oklahoma
                  #10 Texas
                  #14 Texas Tech
                  @ #7 Mizzou ("neutral" game)

We also have a road game to Nebraska, who will be a little miffed about that whole 76-point thing last year.

Arkansas has a brutal schedule too...a stretch of 4 games is Texas, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn.

I really think, if College football is gonna continue to have this ridiculous system in place and not have a playoff, then they really should consider holding off on the polls until like week 5 or 6.

If there were ever a reason to run the score up on someone, I believe that is it. I'd expect a good 'ol coutry ass whoopin from the Huskers this year.

Didn't Nebraska practice running up the score back when they were actually pretty good?

no, they were using their 4th string in the 3rd quarter and still nobody could stop them

From 1971 to 2003, the combined score between Nebraska and KU was 1,515-244. Osborne ran up the score on us every year. Certainly their being a national powerhouse and our crappiness didn't help, but civility was completely absent from those maulings. KU owes Nebraska about 30 more epic beatdowns like last year and 2005.
