Drake's schedule may be better than KU's.

Usually that might be true, but not this year. Good lord. Five teams in the top 25, including four in the top fourteen. KU has a much tougher road this season.

If there were ever a reason to run the score up on someone, I believe that is it. I'd expect a good 'ol coutry ass whoopin from the Huskers this year.

Nebraska's defense is going to have to stop someone this year if they're going to live up to that expectation.

I really think, if College football is gonna continue to have this ridiculous system in place and not have a playoff, then they really should consider holding off on the polls until like week 5 or 6.

I agree. Of course the media and fans love the polls, but they are pretty much pointless in August. It will be interesting to see how the postseason changes when they do implement the playoff system, which it's time to do.

The thing that is bad about the polls in the beginning is it puts teams there that don't deserve it, and they manage to stay there the whole year. While teams that deserve to be ranked aren't, because a lowsy BCS team was ranked in the top 5 to begin the year and never quite dropped from the polls, despite 4 losses.

This is the reason why I think there shouldn't be polls till later in the year as well.

I know what you're saying and I agree polls are meaningless early on, but delaying the rankings won't change much. How are we supposed to know who's good and who's bad? No matter if the polls are released in August or in October, there will still be measures taken by pollsters to determine who they think is good and who they don't. It's the same way in all the sports that have polls, from basketball to baseball. That's just the way they work.

College football is and always will be dominated by the traditional powers (Alabama, Texas, USC, Georgia, Ohio State, etc.), and the future of the sport will be determined by what they want to do. Polls benefit those programs, because they are usually on them. Hence, I don't think they're going anywhere.

Deserving teams that aren't in one year's preseason polls generally work themselves into the rankings, and if they have program strength, they'll be on the next season's preseason rakings (see: KU and Missouri this year).

You're right that it isn't always a fair system, but I don't see it changing.

I can't wait for that one. You have to respect USC's non-conference slate with road games at Virginia and Ohio State and Notre Dame at home. Ohio State always schedules at least one elite team a year in the non-conference, it seems (home and home with Texas a few years ago). I'm also looking forward to the Virginia Tech/Nebraska game. I like to see the Big XII win, but I met a ton of very friendly Hokie fans in Miami and will kind of pull for them.
