The more I look into it the more I start to agree with what jazztrane posted. I have no say in the matter but would vote no if I did.

I just hate the idea of having the state run a casino. I don't trust 'em at all. They're all crooks.

I do however like to hit the blackjack tables on occasion. I haven't had time to go up to KC in over a year so having it closer would help better fulfill my entertaining needs and keep my money here.

But the fact the state gets a quarter of the revenue and pretty much hasn't said what it's gonna do with the money makes me cringe.

I like to gamble and everything but I'd have to put myself still as undecided. I guess I'd better hurry up and make up my mind..

I would prefer the state of Kansas rather than the state of Oklahoma have the money.
I would prefer Sedgwick County rather than Sumner County have the money.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Well, today is voting day, and I think we will have a Casino, no matter what the right wing says, but do feel it would be better located up by Park City than downtown Wichita, as city councilmembers would have too much influence, and they can screw up even the best of plans, i.e., Waterwalk.

The plan for Delano does not make sense to me, as 6 acres is not enough room for a Casino, unless it goes up to overlook our overhyped river, not to mention parking (there's that word again .... LOL).

Jazztrane is very uninformed on the issue. The Sumner County line is 8 miles from S. Wichita. Casino Developers are standing by with wire-transfer numbers in hand to build in Sumner if we turn it down. They would LOVE to build on cheap land at the Mulvane turnpike exit instead of expensive land downtown. The only guy wanting to build downtown is Ruffin/Trump because Ruffin has some local interest in the city of Wichita.

Snap, we cannot have this casino in Park City. That would be half as bad as having it in Sumner. The only way we are going to recoup some of the devastation that a casino is going to bring to Wichita is to have it downtown where we can reap the "rewards" of 100's of millions of urban-renewal, 400 hotel rooms, etc. etc. This casino will have a negative impact regardless of where it goes.. however its effects will be minimized if it is downtown and the more expensive it is the better. The closer it gets to a "destination quality" casino the better it will be for Wichita.

I guess we truly know how backwards and unpredictable this town is.
