I think the problem it has right now is that the rest of the DT area isn't where it needs to be to better support the theater. When(IF) the WaterWalk is finished and there are more shopping/eating to do there the theater will be much more successful. Basically, the OT Warren needs help around it.
Personally, I've never been there and the odds are slim of me showing up. I live east of Wichita as it is and if I hit up a Warren it'll be at 13th.
Same here SubGod. I live on the east side and venturing downtown for a movie seems like a hassle with the great Warren theatre so close. I don't see any benefit.
Spoiler Alert: Bruce Willis was dead the whole time!
I am a west sider, and usually go to the West Warren, although occasionally I like to go to Old Town Warren.
The presence of the Old Town Warren is rather symbolic of the Old Town squares that existed across the country though, and I believe it adds to the ambience of that area a lot.
I think it should be preserved and assisted in some way, much much more than a $6 Million Theatre at Cowtown. The Praire W Wranglers are the only thing saving Cowtown, and Cowtown has been dead for awhile. What is that saying about not beating a dead horse?
The Cowboy days have been over for a long long time, it is time for Wichita to move on.
The thing with Cowtown goes back to what I said in the Restaurant thread. Its something kind of cool for the younger kids. Overall that place is shitty. Sorry for the language but its just really crappy.
Sub and Smooth - the only bad thing about the old town warren is they only have a few screens. The east and west warren show alot more movies.
The cool thing about the downtown warren is you can have dinner and a movie while you watch the movie. Now I understand you can do that out East however dont you have to pay extra to be seated in that area?
Also to touch on what Indy said its great for on the weekends say if you are meeting up with friends or on a date. Hell you can take them to eat and Old Chicago walk right over to the theater catch a flick then you still downtown to go to a bar/club or your favorite place to catch a live band. Unless you dont mind it you can park in one spot and dont have to worry about driving all over.
Plus its a nice place to sit around and hangout around there haaha

I completely agree on Cowtown. When the whole 'save cowtown' debate was going on, I was auditing a local not-for-profit. One of the members told me that Cowtown had requested funds from the not-for-profit and faxed over an incomplete balance sheet (assets only). They wanted to know if I thought it wise to help them out. I quickly advised them to say NO and that they should not even think about it before I saw audited full financial statements including cash flows. Even then, it would be a waste as the product is crappy and demand low.
The Warren East allows you to bring in food from the diner if you purchase before the movie at no additional cost but if you want to have waiter/waitress service in the balcony it is $25/ticket. At that rate a date for 2 usually costs around $90.
:-x :-x

That's why I'll eat somewhere else then go to the movie. Spending that kinda jack to sit in the balcony so I can have a wait staff is a little much for me. Although sometimes it's nice to have the diner right there so we can get something when need be.
Thats cool about the diner. I wasnt aware of that.
Thats to much for the admission though.
at the old town warren tickets are your normal ticket prices. Then of course you spend more if you order something. Food there can be pricey but Ive taken my girl and my son out before and spent maybe 40 extra bucks on top of ticket prices which isnt to bad.
I remember being at a Stealth game when Bill was announced as a special something or another and he was warmly greeted with nothing but boos.
I also remember during that time he was running that everytime we went to a movie there was some commercial or something about him and his run for mayor. That never went over well with any movie I was at.
Did he ever really stand a chance? I'm not a Wichitan so I didn't really pay much attention to it. I just know I wasn't surprised when he was defeated.
