I live in College Hill, so the OT Warren is actually the closest movie theatre to me of all of them.
But even if it weren't, I'd still make it my first choice to see a movie. The seats are the most spacious, the isles the roomiest (at 6'5", I can barely touch the seat in front of me with my legs fully extended), and the atmosphere the best.
I definitely think it could do without Oscars. That place serves a decent selection of poor quality food (that amazingly tastes a little bit better if you eat in the theatre.... perception is everything, i guess) and hasn't ever been a destination for anything for me. Warren has said he would turn it into a 6th movie screen if the theatre remains open.
There's also the fact that the theatre hasn't found it's niche. While it's my first choice of a place to see a movie, it seldom has a movie I'd like to go see showing (ironically, as I look at what's playing right now, there are 2 or 3 movies I'd see). Someone needs to learn that the kind of people who'd like to go see a flick in a unique theatre in a historic area aren't always the same kind of people who like movies geared towards idiots or 16 year old boys who just like to see things blow up.
Show a movie like There Will Be Blood or No Country For Old Men there instead of the latest Will Smith garbage pail.
I've been to the theatre in Bricktown, OKC, the Magnolia and Angelica in Dallas, and a few other theatres in major cities that are located in an area similar to the OT Warren, and the OT Warren is still my favorite.
