The BLS has some good information on how to become one and where jobs are. It's kinda cool to see the map of where to job are. They appear to correspond with the bigger airports. So it's a cool map..

Maybe it could be that pilot jobs won't turn into Wichita, KS employment?

WSU's NIAR is one of the most advanced aviation research centers in the country. If they aren't working on drones, it's because they are kicking too much ass working on other stuff that the industry is begging them to (and paying them handsomely for).

Impressive, looked at their Non-Destructive Test Lab page and they've got a LOT going on there.

After looking more closely I see a LOT may be an understatement: http://www.niar.wichita.edu/researchlabs/index.asp

How about a degree in origami engineering? Might be critical for the future of aviation manufacturing.

Engineers are using origami to design drugs, micro-robots, and future space missions.
