How many TVs per device? I have 5 TVs. Living room, Den, master bedroom, kitchen, office. We watch new & sport live, lots of kid shows, DVR a lot of stuff from various broadcast & cable. Do not have any premium channels. I would love to reduce my $250+ a month cable/internet/phone bill

Any suggestions for a person with a technical IQ of around 50?

Sling, extra sports package, $25/ mo. Chromecast, $35, one time. Use android device with Chromecast app to mirror to tv. Use Sling login on XBOX and other devices to get ESPN on multiple tvs. We pay $50/ month for Internet and have no landlines. Also, Monday Night Football will not play on phone, so you need a tablet to mirror that. Xbox plays MNF, too.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

The only channel I'd like is Discovery.

Some of you guys might just be better off by beating up your current cable provider on your monthly bill. They're all very desperate to retain customer base at this point, so you don't exactly have to be a master negotiator to get them down. I have U-Verse with the largest channel package (called "U450"), all premium channels, and their 12 Mbps internet (called "Internet Max" - plenty of bandwidth for our non-techie two person household), and after all fees and taxes I pay about $145 per month. I'm not a new customer either - been with them about five years.

I've thought (and will continue to think hard on) "cutting the cord", but after adding together stand-alone internet, HBO streaming, Showtime streaming, Hulu, plus Sling TV with sports package I would end up saving only something like $20 per month, AND I would lose the DVR. Losing the DVR is my biggest impediment to going to Sling TV, by far. We hardly watch live TV, so it is kind of a big deal.
