A Creighton hospital? So THAT'S what they're calling rehab facilities these days.

Omaha gets another ebola patient on Monday.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Don't know. In fact I won't know any more until you know. HIPAA is taken very seriously and I don't get any info that could get my wife in trouble.

Here is the inside info I can give you; personnel working in the biocontainment unit go in commando. No underwear. The women go braless as well. They shower in and shower out. Any clothes worn in are burnt. So, it only took one day for them to wear nothing but hospital provided scrubs into the unit.

Well, our first victim succumbed to his illness. My condolences to Mr. Duncan.

We have learned a few things......

Our public health managers appear to be finally reacting and managing the risks and the 'CDC virus hunters' have dropped a lot of their swagger. Process gaps are being addressed.

I think the disease would probably be more clusters and less an epidemic here. And the clusters might not be large, especially now that protocols are being developed (as well as a framework).

In spite of another bit of sunshine pumped by the CDC it doesn't look like we will be able to improve the 50 percent mortality rate. There have been several close calls, such as Mr. Wiggle escaping the police for a couple of days (Mr. Wiggle was the homeless guy that rode in the ambulance). Imagine what might have happened if he came down with ebola. Without any deference to the homeless, I'm sure the new rules will require picking up the homeless person and escorting them to an area where they could be observed.

Dallas Nurse with Ebola is Clinically Stable, says CDC

For the third time, Ebola survivor Dr. Kent Brantly has donated blood plasma to help treat someone fighting the virus, a spokesman said Monday.

But, but, but, we're all supposed to die! I don't get it. 50% mortality rate in Africa is supposed to equate 50% mortality rate in the US. Forget what my wife told me! Forget what the rest of the crew in the biocontainment unit told me, we're all supposed to die! Well, half of us, just ask shaka kahn. He says 50%. Needless to say, six have been treated in the US with one death. Even though the one death was a complete cluster from the get go, the guy was a dead man walking when he stepped off of the plane, he still counts. So, one death in six equals 50% mortality, which equals Africa.

I'm not saying anything that should give any hope, because I know nothing about what is happening, this is heresay, rumor from someone who knows nothing, maybe a complete uneducated and completely uninformed guess, but the NBC cameraman being treated in Omaha has been back on solid foods for days. He is well on his way to recovery. I don't know this to be true of course, just throwing it out there that this guy is getting better.

I will respond, but it will be like a book. In a nutshell, there really are only three institutions in the US ready to handle ebola. It won't be long until almost every hospital can treat ebola, but that isn't today. The CDC has stated that ebola can be treated anywhere, that is not true. What is being done in Omaha and Atlanta will be rolled out everywhere and in around six months or so, treatment will be possible anywhere. The doctors in Dallas tried, they had continuous conversations and consultations with the staffs at Emory and Nebraska Medicine. That wasn't good enough. The guy was diagnosed too late and he was too far gone. The nurse in Dallas will recover. What has happened in Dallas, though a man died, will go a long way in dictating future treatment protocol.

As for all the screw ups in Dallas, I will itemize them in another post.
