I'd spend hours fixing it and it would work for a while and then I'd have to redo something. I don't take joy in the programming and set up. I take joy in always having what I want available to me every time.

I also don't have problems with other products or those that support them, but I am Apples key demographic...constantly connected, but with no care for how or why it works.
But from my experience, the only products that don't "play nice" when trying to integrate them in an eclectic environment are the Apple products. In other words, if you stay completely away from Apple, the pain of setting everything up is practically exactly the same as if you only buy _everything_ from Apple. And that's the problem. If you want a super easy experience networking devices you have two choices: Buy only Apple stuff, or buy no Apple stuff. But Apple has the best tablet and music players, and so for that reason it's worth going through a little extra pain in learning how to connect Apple stuff to the rest of the world.

This is a good and true statement.

I work in the technology sales world, and since Apple doesn't make servers or many business applications, I'm an Android guy.

Pretty much everyone I deal with, outside of the end user, is Android as well.

I didn't have any apple products and still had issues with crashing and having to reset it. Don't have that now, but it's been a few years so maybe it's different now, or more likely, I'm not smart enough.

IPHONE 6p sold out. Still supply of IPHONE 6. AT&T executive had this

"It's amazing to see the volume," he said, adding that the "systems are rocking" and "everything is going well." He said demand for the new phones is "better than last year and they're better than the prior year [before that]."

"Every time there is a change in [iPhone] design, there's an uptake," he said. "I think this design is particularly good."

Apple makes tools. Open source is a toy. That's the difference.

Open source is a tool. What developers do with the tool is up to the creative ability of the developer. There are thousands of open source programs that are not toys and thousands of toys. Same with iOS.

In the whole Apple fan boy vs. Android war, most people misunderstand what is happening. Android, and moreover, Google is the real threat. Apple has pretty much all of the market penetration they will ever get. They gain a few and lose a few customers, but they have what they have. When Apple releases a new device, it is their established customers that create the buzz, stand in lines and buy the new thing.

Google is the behemoth. Google controls everything. Google makes tools, Google amasses information and Google is buying just about any tech patent they can get their hands on. Every month, Apple begrudgingly writes a huge check to Google, just so they can stay relative in the game. Google and Android make just as many tools as Apple. In fact they make more, you just don't always see the Google branding while you're using the tools on your iPhone.

I read an article a few weeks ago regarding collaboration between Apple and Microsoft. We as consumers think of Apple and Microsoft as fierce enemies. Well, they are competitors, but outside of the public eye, they are fighting the war of their life. Incrementally, they are losing the war to Google and they are collaborating in an effort to block the Android shift. The two computer giants are working together on several projects to quell Android advancements, and they are pooling money in an effort to buy up patents to keep them out of Google's hands.

If I can find the article again, I'll post it. It was very interesting.

This isn't the article I read, but a quick search pulled this up. This does not go into market share and other areas, but it does highlight a few areas where Microsoft and Apple are working together. It is really telling that Apple would even consider using Bing as their default search engine. Enjoy the read, I'll keep looking for the more in depth story.

I still can't find the article I mentioned, but here is an article regarding Apple going thermonuclear to destroy Android. Interesting times for the tech giants, also an inside to what is really happening in their world. Much different than the consumer's perception.

And that's why Apple's operating system is a spinoff of Linux? Sheesh.

OSX is Unix based, so is Linux. I'd say they're more like cousins.

Any phone that's older than 6 months old is only usable as a paperweight because it's over 6 months old and there's better out there. You sound like someone with an old phone trying to rationalize how uncool and fail you are.

Excellent move by Apple. Look for competitors to follow suit, but kudos to Apple for announcing it first (though the iCloud breach forced their hand somewhat):

Microsoft announces a wearable. Beats apple to market and does the same exact thing. Bonus points for Microsoft developing a health wearable that will cross all platforms, even works with apple. What was Microsoft thinking, fan boys will never buy it!!!
