  • I guess the running clock is one of the things that make Soccer different from a lot of other sports. However, the way they add additional time seems somewhat arbitrary and inexact.

LMAO! I didn't take it as snarky. Hahaha

It's not bad. As a ref you just stop your watch when someone belts it into row JJ, or is injured, etc. Then when the real time clock shows that 90 minutes has elapsed you subtract the difference and give them a heads up on how much time is left. Pretty straight forward.

        • ESPN's World Cup home page has a good tactical breakdown of Portugal's goal with Lalas talking through the goal second by second. His conclusion is that the off-ball defenders were more to blame than Bradley as too much focus went to Ronaldo and he had no real avenue given the numbers on that side.

I don't see the article but based on your description I would concur. It was a terrible first touch by Bradley but the left back was also out of position and the left central was also caught too far in the center and unable to provide support.

            • Maybe it's time to bring the Suarez conversation up again.

              • Just as I am sticking-up for Suarez, he has to go and make it even harder for me to continue to do so..

Still a fan of his. Lord only knows why.

I had forgotten the previous biting incidents and only ever remember the Evra incident. Not that I needed anymore reason to cheer for Uruguay's quarterfinal opponent but thanks for one anyway Saurez.

Suarez thought that Chiellini was made of pizza. He found out he is not.

Portrait of a Serial Winner - Luis Suarez is Soccer's Most Beautiful Player

A very good and well written piece on Suarez (released just before the World Cup). Makes me feel better about myself rooting for him.

                            • Switzerland's Shaqiri lit it up! And I mean LIT IT UP on his first goal. Cannon of the Cup so far. Still think Cahill's (AUS) goal is the best so far. Columbia's James is a young gun to watch -- big time.
