Rooney was a liability on the defensive side of the ball. England's speed hurt Italy at times. As an Italy fan I was glad to get a win. Kept thinking England would equalize.
Pirlo is one of my favorites and I'm not ready to see him walk away from the game yet. Don't think they can make a real run unless Mario plays up to his full potential.

Wow. First time goal-line technology is really needed and it is STILL controversial.. Not sure if that, indeed, went in or not.

Also, the ending of that Switzerland vs Ecuador game was amazing.

Another thing, from those who want to take about Donovan not making the roster, Nasri (and Clichey) being left off the French roster is MUCH more of a eye-opening decision IMHO.

Another official that will not be asked to return this World Cup. Easy to see who the better team is, but unbalanced calls early led to frustration on Honduras part, then inconsistent calls let the game get away from him.

Has not been a shining moment for the officials.

            Messi is a stud!!

Honduras suuuck. And I mean Evansville suck. France is okay.

Ivory Coast vs Japan was a very good match for a bunch of mid-majors. Bahahah. But really, if you can get past names on jerseys, that was a good one.

Did the Bosnia Hertzagohoweveryouspellitguhvina guy just meg the keeper?

Why yes he did. That's how he rolls.

Ivory Coast has a lot of solid players. They will be dangerous.

Messi being Messi, with his goal. Glad to see him start to avenge his dissapointing performance from four years ago.

Glad they didn't give Benzema a hat trick. Had the ball already been on track to go in, then it would have been a goal for Benzema. However, since the ball hit the post, was coming back into play, and only went in because the goalie deflected it in, it's an own-goal IMO.

Definitely an own goal, however I could see them changing that ruling some day, mainly because the keeper wasn't prepared for the ricochet and they can attribute that to the cracker from Benzema. Hard to say.

I miss Zidane. I don't care how much of a ***** he was ... he was entertaining and a solid baller.

I don't like France. They are pretty good though.

Finally we are starting to see more aggressive styles in these more recent matches. Refreshing!

Zidane was amazing. I always knew of him to be well liked and respected, apart from that headbutt in 2006 (which I loved BTW).

                          Good times.

Dang I'm gettin' old. I would have sworn that was just the last cup in 2010. LMAO!

I'm rooting for Portugal to beat Germany today. I always root against the Germans and a scenario with a winner is favorable for the U.S. to advance from the group as it increases the likelihood that a win and a draw will be enough.

Not looking good for Portugal, down 2-0 toward the end of the first half.
