Anyone do business with these clowns? Honestly, probably the worst experience I have ever had. I take my computer into them with Screen damage that occured with me dropping my hefty graphing calculator on the screen and breaking the LCD screen. I ask them to do a screen repair. As soon as I walk in, they see that there is drop damage on my computer and try to say that their could be hard drive damage. I tell them no, there is not hard drive damage as I am not computer illiterate and know that my drive is healthy (diagnostic scan/de-frag etc.). They go, well we aren't going to do your screen repair without running a hard drive scan to make sure it is ok so we aren't liable if the drive goes bad. So I agree, but I tell them that I am only paying them to do a screen repair not meddle with my hard drive. They also asked me to see if I had everything backed up, I said I did. As I left I made the comment to my friend saying that they will probably call and say the hard drive is bad so they can grab more money from me.
Today I get a call from them saying your hard drive came back from the scan and it was defective; they say can't salvage any data from the drive. They then try to sell me a new drive and all the repairs that would come with needing to get a new drive. I then tell them that I used and transferred data using the hard drive that morning, I ask them " So you are telling me that in the 45 minutes it took me to come from my house to your store the hard drive went so bad that no data was salvageable?'" They replied, " Uhhh, yea that uhh appears to be the case". I am so pissed. I told them to not touch my computer again until I come to pick it up.
Another sign of their incompetence was when I asked what they did to find out the hard drive was bad. They said we used the manufacturers diagnostic program to see if anything was wrong, in this case they said Seagate. WRONG, it's a western digital drive. I then call someone who does repairs locally here in town who is held in high regard. He said that he's never heard of a drive that data isn't salvageable from unless it's been ran over by a truck. He said that Ribbit sounds as if they are BSing me.
TL;DR: Computer Fcktards at ribbit try to think they can swindle people they assume are computer illiterate into paying money for things that aren't wrong with their computer.
I am unbelievably angry.
Don't do any business with Ribbit.
