But I am with KungWU I am more worried about yellow snow than yellowstone for not only me but grandchildren or great-grandchildren. Please keep in mind my son is only 11 years old. :)
I just used the directions on google, so it was probably the distance via the best possible highway route. I didn't even think about figuring how far a straight-shot by plane would be. I keep trying to tell you all I'm not that smart, but moments like these probably say it well enough.

That's only true if the fallout follows the same path as a driver would. A straight line from Yellowstone National Park to Wichita, KS is around 832 miles.

Sure, if you want to measure distances at SEA LEVEL. BOOM!! You didn't take the fact that Yellowstone National Park is 8000ft above sea level while Wichita is only 1300ft, leaving a vertical difference of 1.269 miles! That means you need to calculate the hypotenuse of the triangle to calculate the fallout distance, excluding wind. So the real distance is 832.001 miles. IN YOUR FACE! BOOM AGAIN! :)

But have YOU taken into effect magnetism and dyanetics? And what if the crow doesn't fly straight? Atmospheric pressure or expansion of the continent at the time of eruption? I think we have a (+-) of 800 miles on this deal. L. Ron Hubbard would be disappointed with your calculation.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Jimmy Buffett said it best - Drink lots of rum and lava your girl.

              I don't know, I don't know where I'm a gonna go
              when the volcano blow.

My girl quickly say to me,
"Mon you better watch your feet."
Lava come down soft and hot.
"You better lava me now or lava me not.

No time to count what I'm worth,
cause I just left the planet Earth.
              Where I go I hope there's rum.
Not to worry mon soon come.

But I don't want to land in New York City,
I don't want to land in Mexico.
              I don't want to land on no Three Mile Island;
I don't want to see my skin a-glow.

Don't want to land in Comanche Sky Park,
              or in Nashville, Tennessee.
I don't want to land in no San Juan airport or
              the Yukon Territory.

Don't want to land no San Diego.
Don't want to land in no Buzzards Bay.
I don't want to land on no Ayatolla.
I got nothin' more to say.

Decimal placement isn't that important, is it? :worked_till_5am:

A 2011 CNN segment on the Yellowstone super volcano. At approximately the 2:40 mark shows the ring of devastation.

                            from the USGS

Contrary to some media reports, Yellowstone is not "overdue" for a supereruption. Indeed, it is quite possible that such an eruption will never again occur from the Yellowstone region. Scientist agree that smaller eruptions are likely in the future, but the probability of ANY sort of eruption at Yellowstone still remains very low over the next 10 to 100 years.

What "we" must remember is that geological time is much longer than our own life perspective. I am not a believer of impending doom but rather numerous generations into the future.

What about years 1-10?? Those are the ones I am worried about.
