Did you also have the same thoughts about Shocker fans in the 90s? Why did they still bother to support the team and stick with them when there was no chance in hell of anything good coming from it?

KC still has an outside chance of seeing post season this year despite having Yost trying his hardest to screw it up. And next year could be even better than this year in the product on the field. So why do you feel the need to jump in now? You've been saying the same thing every year for the past few years on here and we've told you the same thing over and over. If you don't get it, you're too dense to ever do so.
ShockTalk was the one saying so many good things about the Royals. Ned gets no credit for anything? Every pitch is his fault? Come on.

Did I say you can't support them? Did I say you should stop posting about them? NO. I simply asked why you were wasting your time because we know how it inevitably ends. And I can say that pretty confidently and you really can't fire back with anything because the Royals haven't won a meaningful game or series in nearly 30 years. They've teased you a few times, like now. I'm just trying to save you guys some pain. Until the Royals prove everybody wrong, that's the way it's going to be. You can talk about them all you want. I'm just trying to give friendly advice.

I've actually been pretty quiet for the last couple of years when I very easily could have been piling on. Don't get mad at me because I stated something that's true that rubs you the wrong way. I could be a lot worse. I think you can admit that.

We've essentially said the same thing about everything on this message board, year after year, so I don't really understand why it matters if I make a Royals comment for the first time in 15 months.

I'll participate in most any MLB team discussion, even your Yanks. Heck, they have a payroll on the DL almost the total of the Royals payroll and still have 3 times the payroll on the active roster. And their record? Same as the Royals.

Warn these guys about the Royals? I'm sure they all thought KC was dead in the water when they drop to .500 in late August. However, they've shown some good fight going 16-8 since, so I'm sure KC fans are grateful they're even still talking about making the playoffs.
Are we really going to do the payroll smack thingy every time a small market club gets hot once in 30 years and matches or finishes better than the Yankees? I think the world championship trophy quantity between the two teams speaks for itself. Or does that not matter that much?

I've seen a lot of Royal internet fans act like morons and are mad that they are in the position they're in right now. You're right. They should be grateful for where they are right now, but a lot of them are not. That's why they're calling for Ned Yost's head after they've had one of their best seasons in decades. Pretty freaking hilarious to me.

And no Sub, I'm not calling you or anyone else here a moron. I've looked at other websites where the posters there are just insufferable.

When you're a Royals fan, sometimes the demeanor of talking about the Royals becomes insufferable. You could call my approach apathy, but when I see people being like you say "insufferable" I just quickly exit the page. When your team is generally crap, hearing people go over and over and over the reasons why your team is crap, is like banging your head against a wall to cure a headache. I know exactly what you mean about seeing the ridiculous talk about the Royals and hating on Yost. So it's not just you.

I will say though that our Royals crew over here at SN is level headed, gripe at the right time, praise at the right time, and generally have that air of hope that all good Royals fans have.

I always say that the best day to be a Royals fan is on opening day. There is that hope that it could be our year.

What a blast by Maxwell to win it in the 10th. Walkoff grand slam, 2 outs, 3-2 count, facing former Royals closer Joakim Soria.

KC still hanging on by a thread.

I can't believe this was essentially Yost's 4th full season. As a casual Royals fan, seems like it was just yesterday he took the reigns from Hillman.

I want to congratulate KC and their fans for having a long over due season and keeping it interesting into the last week of the season.

The Royals run started August 24 when they fell to .500 and lasted through September 23:

                            Detroit 76-53.........91-66 (15-13)
                            Texas 75-54.........85-71 (10-17)
                            Tampa 74-53.........87-69 (13-16)
                            Oakland 72-56.......94-63 (22-7)
                            Indians 70-59........86-70 (16-11)
                            Orioles 69-59.........81-75 (12-16)
                            Yanks 68-61.........82-74 (14-13)
Royals 64-64.........83-73 (19-9) That's 4 teams to jump, 3 1/2 games out of the closest team, and 8 games out of a playoff spot.

Too many teams, too many games out. However, KC had the second best record during that key period of the season when many others either faltered or were mediocre. During that stretch they had 6 games with Detroit, 6 with Cleveland, 3 with Texas, and 1 with Tampa Bay.

I only hope my Cards don't fold having some late season injuries on top of key players missing the whole year.

A one year contract to match Dayton Moore's contractual tenure is reasonable. Not a long term contract, however. Moore's contract is due next year.

I'd be fine with Moore getting an extension as long as it meant Yost would be gone. Moore really has built a solid system and built a fine scouting department and I'd love to see the success there continue. The few Royals fans I've had contact with in some form today are not pleased with Moore's comments at all. It will be interesting to see how this goes down.
