  • B&D recommends phasing out Wichita State's Fairmount Towers because of "operational inefficiencies" associated with location and utilization of that property.
Well... that's one way to put it, certainly. I've been saying Fairmount should go bye-bye for a multitude of reasons, but I'm not a savant, and more importantly WSU could probably care less about my opinion.

    • The question I have, is the 400-bed demand in addition to Fairmount, or after their recommendation to get rid of it?

      • Will be interesting to see how much of an impact or any on enrollment this will have. The population of the Oklahoma counties where students qualify for in state tuition comes out to 2,490,474. Kansas currently has a total population of 2,904,000. So WSU basically increased available in state tuition pool of students by 86%. Obviously WSU isn't going to increase by 86% of their Kansas kids enrolled at WSU but even increasing that amount by 20% would equate to a few thousand I would think. Not sure how many Kansas kids make up WSU's enrollment.

Yeah, but the IQ on campus is going to plummet.

                  • Parking garage planned near Rhatigan Student Center

"The request to the Board of Regents assumes a maximum average construction cost per space of $18,000. The project, estimated at $7.2 million, would be financed through parking fees and bond proceeds."

Wichita State University is seeking approval from the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) to build the university's first parking garage.

Posting this had nothing to do with some of your other posts regarding a certain "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" idea does it? :)

I thought of that this morning as soon as I saw the headline.

Undoubtedly what's good for Wichita State is good for all of Wichita and this region.

A competitive and well funded (does not draw resources from basketball) football program would benefit all of Wichita State. Not only the the athletic department, but academically, as well. This in turn benefits Wichita and this region economically. I truly believe that there is a real case for funding the "football endowment" with a three or four year sales tax plan.

Good catch @ShockTalk: and great point!

This is off topic, but Robert Litan is married to the former Margaret Langston. I know people like to talk about what she did in the past, but she is a Shocker fan.
