    • The article states that a "Firm" was hired to assess the feasibility of raising 250 million in donations. "The Firm" felt that was too high and felt that 200 million was more realistic. I hope "The Firm" is never used in the future. Great job and Go Shocks.

        • OK not massive growth but growth none the less. WSU Tech is planning on adding a Culinary school and Hospitality classes to its curriculum pending approval by the BOR. Will take place in the old Henry's building that is being renovated and will serve the proposed Osteopathic Medical School. Chefs John and Lexi Michael will head up the program and had been in charge of the similar program offered by Butler CCC. Besides classes it will also house a dining hall for the Medical school it and will be open to the public with food prepared by the culinary students. Part of the renovation will include a roof top event center that will be available to rent and use the students as caterer's. Nice collaborative effort between WSU Tech and the proposed Medical school.

            • Lots of dirt being moved around for the new Business school building. Also driving down 17th was amazed at the number of new private apartments that have displaced some of the eyesore apartments that have been there for 76+years. Really makes the area south of 17th look good.

There’s a livestream of Woolsey Hall construction, FYI.

                • I haven't been in the area for quite some time. It's always interesting to drive by and see what's changed.

Would still like to see more private business in the area on and around campus.

                          • Kathleen Gallagher: An overwhelming majority of large research institutions in the Big Ten are falling behind their peers in other regions — and it’s hurting all of us.

Corporations then turn to the coasts — or places like Wichita State.

Wichita State is one of the fastest-growing research institutions since 2010, increasing research spending by 150% and jumping 40 spots to 147th in the rankings. The reason: More than 60% of its research funding comes from nearly 300 corporate customers of its National Institute for Aviation Research. The differentiator: Companies have a right to keep their intellectual property.

“You have to be set up to serve industry in order to be successful,” says Tracee Friess, the institute’s communications director. "They’re coming to us to solve a problem or develop a system to help them grow their business.”
