wow, bowe just let a pass go through his hands that would have put KC in FG range.

Chiefs win 27-24 in OT with over 500 yards offense. Key was Charles being an effective runner and the defense actually showing up in the 2nd half. NO had their chance in the 1st half to blow the game out but KC weathered the storm.

Look for KC to win just enough games to keep them out of the top 3 or 4 teams in next year's draft. When was the last time they actually had a high draft pick that they did something with?

assuming your talking a Top 5 No. 1 - that would be Derrick Thomas in 1989 with the No. 4 pick of the 1st round. 1988, they also took Neil Smith with #2 pick of the first round.

Since these 2 picks, KC has had top 5 picks in 2007 (Bowe), 2008 (Dorsey), 2009 (Jackson), 2010 (Berry). Which history is stil to be written how good or how bad these picks will be judged.

In 1989, only better player they could have had was Deon Sanders. In 1988, Neil Smith was still a good pick but they passed up 3 hall of famers in Thurman Thomas, Michael Irvin and Randall McDaniel.

Just got home from the game. Some notes:

                * Tailgating is awesome, but there is something to be said about walking around downtown before the game.
                * New Orleans fans are fun and very welcoming of other fans.
                * They ALL felt like they were lucky we have Cassel as otherwise we would have drilled them even worse in the second half.
                * Cassel needs to be replaced. Period.
                * Cassel and Crennel (or both) tried to cost us the game. Crennel by trying to punt with 2:26 left and Cassel almost getting a delay of game penalty with 0:08 left. We need LEADERS and game mangers o. This team. We have none.
                * McCluster injury looked MUCH worse in person than on the replay. Great pass Matt.
                * Bowe got flipped on his head on another GREAT throw by Matt, and about got his leg broke on another. We're lucky he is still healthy.
                * Hillis was in quite a bit of pain walking to locker room.
                * Really hope we didn't waste another good defense trying to find a QB.

Ok so maybe we all overreacted a little? Just like last season.

Atlanta has looked good, sometimes darn good. Buffalo won today so that's always a good sign.

Add into that the fact that we just won in the SuperDome. I'll take it. Next week at home against the Chargers will be telling.

No, there really wasn't any overreacting at all. The team wasn't even competitive in the first two games. The defense, which is supposed to be the team's strong point, was nonexistent.

It seemed like Jamaal Charles long TD run today sparked this team a little. The defense finally woke up and completely shut down one of the best QB's and offenses in the league. However, we can't rely on a career day from our running back every game. We'll have to see how the Chiefs play next week against a Chargers team that will be wanting revenge from Halloween of last year.

I believe we are discussing what the chiefs have done with top 5 1st round picks.

Speaking of Bowe - if he was a big time WR, he would have made that catch that hit both his hands - but he looked like he was scared of being hit.

Chiefs should have gotten beaten today. They had KC on the ropes in the 1st half and could not make the plays, even when KC blew the coverage and was begging them to score. NO quit attacking to soon. They were to afraid they might do something to lose the game........that they lost the game.

With some of the throws he got today, can you blame him?

It's going to be a sad, sad day when Bowe leaves the team after this season and we see just how good he is with a QB that gives him nice throws all the time.
